We had a group of 24 Wahyanites and friends gathered for our annual visit to St. Michael Catholic Cemetery on January 3rd 2026. Other than Fr. Finneran and Mr. Francis Kong, we also pay visits to our Jesuit Fathers – Fr. Deignan, Fr. Coghlan, Fr. Zee, Fr. Russell, Fr. Doris, Fr. Barrett, Fr. Reid, Fr. Foley, Fr. Moran, and Fr. Naylor!
There were many good sharing of Jesuits teaching, great stories and personal encounters for each of the Jesuit Fathers and our beloved teachers. Because Mr. Francis Kong left us 20 years ago, there were extra sharing around this legendary teacher of WYK – his Queen’s English, his use of words, his Daimler, his luggage and his Japan trips, his photographic memories, his Chinese translations, and his great care to his students and his special Buffet treats to the tennis team!
This year, we, the old Old Boys of WYK Tennis, also bring out the questions to the young Old Boys and the current tennis team members to think about what they can and should do when they heard about all these good stories about the Jesuit Fathers and our teachers! This should not be just another annual visit, but what’s the message behind and by whom and how it can be passed to the younger generations? It is about our core values, the DOs & Don’ts, the should DOs, and the must not DOs.
After the visit, the whole group went to “Yum Cha” at Golden Valley in The Emperors Hotel.
