We are incredibly moved by the generosity of our community. In the wake of the disastrous Bhotekoshi floods, so many of you stepped up to offer a helping hand when it was needed most.

We are deeply saddened by the devastating floods along the Bhotekoshi River, which have swept away several villages, including Timure, Rasuwagadhi, Syabrubesi, and Devighat. This natural disaster stands as one of the worst in recent history regarding the tragic loss of human life, infrastructure, and properties.
In recent years, the Himalayan region has experienced a concerning rise in the frequency of such natural calamities, particularly glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) and sudden avalanches. To mitigate these risks and minimize the loss of life in the future, it is paramount that we establish an integrated, cross-border early warning and communication system between China, Nepal, and India.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives, and we pray that the departed souls rest in peace.
During this incredibly difficult time, we appeal to everyone both the Nepalese diaspora and the global community to come together and support the ongoing relief efforts in any way possible.

The avalanche on July 30, 2026 claimed the lives of our brothers during the Broad Peak ascent. The Sherpas, known as the guardians of the mountains- Gyalu Sherpa, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, and Nawang Thindu Sherpa, along with Yukta(Pur Bahadur Gurung) and legendary Nimsdai, found the final rest striving for the highest. As a fellow extreme sport team, HKNUTRA pays tribute to these heroes and four others who were part of this summit. �

Heartfelt Condolences (हार्दिक श्रद्धाञ्जली)

It is with heavy hearts that the Hong Kong Ultra Trail Running Association (HKNUTRA) mourns the tragic loss of Nimsdai Purja and his fellow climbers on Broad Peak.

He was a true son of the Himal and definition of Nepalese "can do" mentality. His unbreakable willpower and "nothing is impossible" philosophy transcended and disrupted traditional mountaineering.

He was a profound inspiration not only to mountaineers worldwide, but also to our ultra-running community here in Hong Kong.

He taught us to push our boundaries and revere the raw power of nature. We equally honor the brave souls who stood beside him, their shared courage represents the very best of the human spirit.

Though our paths differ in altitude, our shared devotion to the mountains unites us in this grief.
To the families, loved ones, and the global climbing fraternity, we stand with you during this incredibly difficult time.

May their legacies forever echo through the high peaks, and may their souls find eternal peace in the mountains they loved so dearly.

We lost a gem. You are gone too soon.
