In loving memory of Suzanne Bourdonnas Bonaly.

My deepest condolences to my dear friend Surya Bonaly and her family on the passing of her beloved mother, Suzanne.

I did not have the honour to know Suzanne personally, but through Surya’s journey, and through the history of our skating world, we can all recognise the strength, sacrifice, and love of a mother behind a champion.

Suzanne was more than the mother of an extraordinary athlete.
She was a teacher, a guide, a protector, and a quiet pillar behind one of the most remarkable journeys in figure skating.

From the first steps on the ice to the world stage, her love and devotion became part of Surya’s story.

Behind every great athlete, there is often someone who believed first — long before the world understood.

Rest in peace, Suzanne.
Your strength, love, and legacy will never be forgotten.
