An emerald green checked suit is enough to make you stand out as the center of attention in any crowd.

The jacket is crafted from a 2024 seasonal limited-edition fabric, a luxurious blend of wool, silk, and linen. The check pattern, woven by the intersection of emerald green and beige, radiates an unforgettable personality and charm. Clearly not a choice to play safe, it has nonetheless drawn many clients to pause in admiration and inquire about tailoring.

Perhaps this is the green suit many have been waiting to find. The fabric supply is limited, seize the opportunity.

一件翠綠的格紋西裝，足以令你在人群中成為焦點。

外套選用2024年季節限定布料，以羊毛、絲與亞麻混紡而成。翡翠綠與米色交織的格紋，呈現著一見難忘的個性和魅力。顯然並非安全的穩重選色，但卻獲得不少客人駐足讚賞，繼而詢問訂製方式。也許這正是不少人一直期待遇上的綠色西裝，布料有限，把握緣份。

A chance encounter a few years ago led The Block to settle in St. Francis Yard, Wan Chai.

Close friends believed that a bespoke tailoring shop belonged on a street with true character. While The Star Street Precinct was undoubtedly appealing, St. Francis Yard, just around the corner, offered the grander space we desired. During the pandemic, the previous tenant‘s lease had not yet expired, and the shutters were down on the day of our visit, making it impossible to step inside. Ultimately, relying solely on the floor plans and an evaluation of the neighboring shops, the decision was made to lease the space.

St. Francis Yard possesses a unique atmosphere that gently encourages people to slow down, exuding a distinct individuality that aligns perfectly with the ethos of The Block. Two months later, we finally took over the keys, completely reassured and satisfied with that pivotal decision.

We invite you to visit St. Francis Yard and experience the bespoke journey of The Block at your own leisurely pace.

數年前的偶然機會，令 The Block 選址灣仔進教圍。

經過一段時間的選擇，以及與朋友討論西裝定製店的選址，一致認為就該挑選具格調的街道。日月星街固然優雅，但若需要更大的空間，便是旁邊的進教圍。疫情期間，舊租戶尚未完約，當天也拉了閘，無法入內了解舖位環境和狀況。最後，只憑著手上圖則，再按附近的店舖評估，便決定把店舖租下。

進教圍擁有令人放慢腳步的氣氛，亦散發自成一格的個性，和 The Block 的風格甚為接近。兩個月後，終於接手店舖，同時也非常滿意當刻的決定。

【 Tools of Tailor Vol.2 － The Tailor’s Chalk 】

Establish a clear path so that every step can be walked without deviation.

After taking measurements with measuring tape, the tailor drafts the pattern on paper, transfers it onto the fabric using tailor’s chalk, and cuts it into panels. Tailor’s chalk is also used to mark alterations, serving as temporary guides.

Typically shaped as thin triangles or squares, these chalk marks can easily be dusted or brushed away after serving their purpose. On the tailoring tables at The Block, tailor’s chalk is an absolute mainstay, an indispensable element in the pursuit of absolute precision that defines bespoke tailoring.

定好清晰路徑，每一步才能走得不偏不倚。

以皮尺量度後，裁縫會在紙樣上繪出版型，再用畫粉把版型繪制於布料之上，在剪裁後成為裁片。畫粉亦可標示需修改的位置，作為臨時記號。

畫粉通常為薄薄的三角形片或方形片，在畫線和標示位置後，用手輕拍或刷掉即可消除。The Block的裁縫桌上必定有畫粉的存在，以精準為基本的西裝定制過程中，是不可或缺的要員。

It is truly a honour that world No.1 Hong Kong fencer, Ryan Choi, wore the pieces from The Block for his cover story in Friday Club. Ryan wore a four-coloured striped linen shirt, styled open for a casual and relaxed vibe that contrasts with the red fencing mask. His second look pairs with purple mélange polo layered over it, perfectly suited for the recent autumn chill.

We wish Ryan continued success on the fencing piste, as well as exciting new explorations in fashion, bringing more personality and flair to bespoke and menswear.

「世一」香港劍擊代表蔡俊彥在Friday Club的封面故事中，穿上 The Block 的出品，確是很大的榮幸。Ryan穿上了四色相間的麻質襯衫，開胸的穿法散發隨性氣質，又與一旁的亮紅劍擊頭盔富有對比。另一造型襯衫外搭混紫色的Polo恤，份外適合最近有秋意的溫度。

祝願Ryan繼續在運動場上再創佳績，也在時尚方面有更多新嘗試，演繹更多西裝和男性時裝的個性。

Founded in the 1980s, the brand is built on the rich heritage of the father of the current lead. With a lifetime of experience in tailoring and bespoke craftsmanship, he remains fully devoted to perfecting these basic blocks. Through the invaluable feedback of clients from all corners of the world, he spent his days redrafting and refining his lifelong craft until the fit was just right.

As a tribute to his father’s legacy, the current lead, Kenneth, agreed that “The Block“ was the only choice that felt true. It honors the decades of dedication and the enduring foundation his father built, one that the brand continue to refine and evolve with every garment we create today.
