Pilates vs. Weightlifting: Sets, Reps and Technique in Chest Expansion
💭 How many reps should you do in Pilates?
Unlike weight training, Pilates isn’t about pushing to failure. We stop when form breaks, not when muscles give out.
🧠 Pilates does improve strength but mostly through improving neuromuscular coordination and not through hypertrophy. Counting sets and reps without technique will not value Pilates principles!
🧠 In Chest Expansion, if shoulders start to lift or technique collapses — you stop.
Not because you’re weak, but because control matters more than reps.
