Finally I found the time to make the video of Agios Nikolaos race! The drone shots are fantastic so the time spent "editing" was worthwhile.
It was a very stormy day and in order to reach Lefkada island we had to "battle" large waves and winds up to 30 knots.
The race course was in the protected area between Lefkada and the mainland so the sea was flat but we still had unpredictable gusts and rain making it challenging and interesting. We are very lucky to live and sail in such a paradise!

A video (including drone footage) of NOLE #2 race. We ended up on 2nd place on the line and 3rd place on corrected time which is not that bad considering W8 is designed for ocean sailing with a heavy duty rig and sails and we were against boats designed for exactly this type of racing with very good crews!
Many thanks to our friends at Okyroi 2 for the footage and Bidourik for not letting us catch our breath in the whole race! 🙂

On last year’s Kleopatra race I had complained to the organizers because of the ultra light winds on the some parts. So, this year they arranged for 2 days with 20-30 knots and good waves for surfing. Especially on the 3rd leg we got caught in the eye of the storm and with winds of 24-30 knots the spinnaker furler decided on its own it was time to unfurl. Being double handed with “fresh” crew and full sails and spinnaker made it very very exciting!
It took us about 20’ to be able to furl and pack the spinnaker including periods of pouring rain. As soon as we did it and thought the worse is over, there was a lightning strike relatively close to the boat… I felt quite desperate at the moment but that crisis also ended without more strikes. The sun came out and we felt finally relaxed until a very large and fast ferry ship nearly run us over!
Our race results were horrible but needless to say we were very happy when we docked at Preveza Marina 😊

Last Saturday we were invited to attend the Dufour Cup organized by Synergy Yacht Sales & Consulting. Contrary to the weather forecast, the wind conditions were fantastic and the Ionian sea was a great playground for all that participated.
We made MANY mistakes but still managed to be far ahead then everyone in the finish line. Maybe because we were the only boat with less than 4 bathrooms 😎

Nikolas Pappas, the young gun from Vonitsa Sailing Club (neighboring club and good friends) needs your vote! 🙂
He has achieved already a lot for his your young age (World Champion 2025) and especially considering that he comes from a very small rural town without sailing tradition. He is an inspiration for all the young kids in our region and deserves our support!

The finalists include The America’s Cup winners, multi-time offshore champions, world champions, trailblazers and organisations committed to making a difference to the global sailing community. Each finalist impressed the judging panel with their achievements over the past year.

The 360° video from the start of Leg 2 of the Marinos Zambatis race is now available.
The Code 0 gave us an advantage in the light winds until.... they became zero wind as usual. The areas with no wind are a disaster for boats with "fast" ORC certificates as the boats regroup and the time spent stationary is then multilied.
We finished 2nd on the 1st day and 1st on the 2nd day. On corrected time we were 6th and 5th respectivelly. We enjoyed playing with our friends on Okyroy II on both legs and seeing many other friends at Meganisi island on the overnight stay.

The start of leg 2 from Meganisi to Ligia. Reaching with light winds of 5-8 knots is the specialty of the code 0 and it gave us a comfortable lead. As usual....

Photos from last Thursday's Southern Ionian Regatta on the south side of Lefkada. Unfortunately, the wind died in the end and we had to abandon the race 500 meters from the finish line but we still enjoyed the day.
We can only congratulate the organizers for the great participation numbers and the many side events for everyone to enjoy.
An unofficial regatta organized by a group of friends with such great results and hospitality in contrast to some of the “official ORC” races we have participated.

“Eleni”, the most beautiful boat of Preveza Marina (in my opinion) has departed for her new home in Athens and we were lucky to accompany her as farewell for the first miles of the trip.
Eleni is a fantastic copy of a traditional Greek sailing fishing boat built 100% in wood with a lot of love many years ago in Denmark!! The Danish owner traveled with her to Greece and later sold her to a very nice English couple. It has now been purchased by a friend Vasilis, ready to travel her further and have new adventures!
I also characterize my boat a “Kaiki” (type of Greek fishing boat) as she is designed purely for function not comfort - just as the traditional fishing boats. The beauty comes from pure and functional design, not fancy useless details.
So, even thought the 2 boats are completely opposites for me they are very similar, they are both beautiful “tools” 🙂
