You don’t need to arrive at practice already calm, focused or ready.
Our bodies change from day to day — with sleep, stress, work, relationships, hormones, environment and the rhythms of our lives.
Practice can become a place where we notice those changes rather than trying to override them.

Sometimes we need movement.
Sometimes stillness.
Sometimes simply a little space to arrive.

Our online classes offer regular spaces to practise with us wherever you are.
September online practices are here.

There can be a frustrating moment in personal work when we realise: I know this already.

We understand the pattern, we have talked about it, we can explain where it came from. And yet it continues.

One reason is that our patterns don't exist only as conscious thoughts. They may also involve deeply rooted emotional and bodily responses.

This is why approaches that include attention to language, sensation and embodied experience can offer something different from intellectual understanding alone.

In Rewrite Your Code, Garuda explores affirmations as evolutionary signals that need to become believable enough for the mind and body to receive, going beyond mere positive statements pasted over difficult experience.

We often think of habits as things we consciously choose and repeatedly do.
However many of our patterns developed long before we began paying attention to them.

A situation arises. A familiar thought appears. Our body responds. We behave in a certain way.
Eventually the sequence can become so well rehearsed that it feels like who we are.

Awareness creates a small but important possibility: noticing the pattern as a pattern rather than automatically treating it as an instruction.

This question sits at the heart of our upcoming Rewrite Your Code workshop.

We often approach change by trying to eliminate what we don't want.

Stop thinking this.
Stop reacting that way.
Stop being so critical.

But fighting an established pattern can become another form of struggle.

Another approach is to begin creating alternatives, through affirmations sufficiently grounded and believable that another possibility can begin to emerge.

The old response may still be there, the difference is that, gradually, it is no longer the only response available.

This is part of what we'll explore through meditation, somatic inquiry, voice work and evolutionary affirmations in Rewrite Your Code.

What if the stories shaping your life are not fixed — but alive, and capable of being rewritten?

Rewrite Your Code is a 3-day workshop exploring the patterns, beliefs and inner narratives that shape how we experience ourselves and our lives.

Through meditation, somatic inquiry, voice work and evolutionary affirmations, we’ll explore how awareness can create space for new possibilities.

Consistency in our practice doesn’t have to mean doing the same thing every day.

Our bodies are constantly responding to sleep, stress, work, relationships, hormones, environment, seasons and countless other influences.

A responsive practice acknowledges that variability.

There are days for movement and days for stillness. Days when we want structure and days when five quiet minutes are enough.

This is one of the principles underlying our work at MALU: practice as a relationship rather than another demand we place upon ourselves.

We often begin meditation or yoga by closing the eyes and turning inward, when many our nervous system needs something else first.

Orienting allows us to take in information from the environment: looking around, noticing sound, light, space, movement and contact with the ground.

It can be a simple way of allowing the body to become acquainted with the present moment and feel safer, before asking it to become still.

You can try it now:
Without changing anything, let your eyes slowly notice the space around you.
What catches your attention?
What happens in your body as you look?

✨ Save this as a small practice to return to when you feel scattered, hurried or disconnected. We explore practices like these throughout our MALU classes and workshops.

September can feel like a threshold.

Summer begins to soften, routines return, and our attention starts moving towards what comes next.

But the body may be moving at a different pace.

A regular practice can offer a space between these rhythms, somewhere we don’t have to immediately become productive, focused or settled.

We can begin by noticing what is already here.

This is also the intention behind our online classes at MALU: creating regular spaces to move, breathe, pause and return to our body.
