His career as a youth player began in Aetos Korydallou, from where he signed in Panathinaikos youth academy, in June 2007. On 17 September 2011, Kapino made his Super League debut, coming in as a substitute for teammate Orestis Karnezis (after being suspended in the 3rd minute), in a match against Atromitos F.C.. He is considered to be a highly talented player, a future Panathinaikos and Greece national football team basic goalkeeper.

Kapino made his international debut for Greece national under-19 football team in UEFA competitions in 24 October 2009, in a match against Norway.
