*THE CONCERNED SPORTS LOVERS*
*OPERATION BACK TO THE NYAMINA FIELD*
On Thursday 11th April, 2024, the second day of the auspicious Eidul Fitr, The concerned Sport Lovers had a spellbound meeting wherein the enthusiastic youths, Gunjur Sports Committee , village heads and concerned Gunjurians all embraced in a spirit to brainstorm ways to get back to the Nyamina Football Field...
At the conclusion of the meeting, the concerned sports lovers highlighted some pertinent action points advised by stakeholders and adopted as consensus in the meeting
Key among these are the follow up on the sports committee to request for the MOU between herself and the GFF for the perusal of the concerned sports lovers on behalf of the affiliated teams who had all prior appended their signature to the request made in this regard by the concerned sports lovers to Gunjur Sports Committee; The registration of concerned sports lovers at the Ministry of Justice. This was advised by the barrister present to ensure the Concerned Sport Lovers become a legal body. On our part this is a timely advice as we'd need to open accounts to facilitate with transparency the resource mobilization process.
At the meeting, we made it clear that our next line of action will be greatly influenced by the outcome of the imminent meeting between the Gunjur Sports Committee and GFF
Our understanding is that it took some time before the GFF respond to the letter of request made by Gunjur Sports Committee and this delayed the meeting beyond our anticipation.
However, the Gunjur Sports Committee ultimately had this meeting with GFF and secured a signed copy of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two bodies.
It is rather unfortunate that the concerned sports lovers have not had any correspondence with the Gunjur Sports Committee in respect of this MOU after their said meeting with the GFF.
We made a follow-up by a letter requesting for a meeting with the Sports Committee to discuss on the pending issues and this meeting transpired recently on the 27th July, 2024.
At this meeting, the GSC through the president apologized if we'd been expecting a written feed back on our pending MOU issue. As far as they were concerned, they have made the relevant report to affiliated teams through the Gunjur Sports Developmental Academy WhatsApp group.
GSC made it clear that it is illegal for the concerned sports Lovers to petition the sports committee on behalf of the affiliated teams as there should be no third party between the GSC and her teams and that is why the report was meant for the affiliated teams through the correspondence at the WhatsApp forum and as such the Concerned Sport Lovers cannot be privy to the MOU.
The two bodies reached a consensus to work together for the development of our common goal and not to see each other as contemporaries.
As we Simultaneously waited on the sports Committee to go about these matters, the concerned sport lovers executed the following activities:
1. Site visits at Nyamina football field for survey after which a budget was drafted to enhance the development we want through the resource mobilization.
2. Working tirelessly on our constitution and relevant documents to register with Justice
3. Printing out receipt books, stamps and their related inorder to facilitate a transparent and fair resource mobilization
4. Opening Bank account to control and dictate the resources mobilized.
Recently and by coincidence to our drive, this year's Nawettan is registering consecutive match cancellations as a result of the drainage of the Gunjur Upper Basic School football field.
This has sparked questions and concerns towards the "operationbacktotheNyaminafield" drive by the concerned sports lovers.
We want to assure our trusted teams, stakeholders and the general public that we have been meticulously on our feet and simultaneously establishing an understanding with GSC who are the supreme sports governing body in our community.
We are committed now more than ever.
And guided by the survey we did with the corresponding budgets, we are starting the resource mobilization right away to build the needed infrastructure within our scope such as rest rooms, fence adjustment among others.

The concerned sports lovers will work with the sports committee to achieve our common goal.
