IT WAS A WRAP!

The BSC has wrapped up its first activity on the 2026 Competition Calendar. A monumental stride in recognizing all sporting disciplines in Bakau. The competition featured both male and female categories with an exceptional display of talent on the tennis court.

The BSC remains committed to supporting all the sporting disciplines in Bakau, while urging all sporting personalities to remain steadfast, committed, disciplined, and hardworking as they thrive towards making excellence in their respective fields of discipline. The President and other Exco members graced the final and presented certificates and trophies to participants.

We hereby use this moment to congratulate all the winners and implore them to continue doing more.

As part of the committee's 2026 competitions calendar, the Tennis Competition has run through the week after the Independence Stadium's tennis court. The tournament officially kicks off on Saturday and is now heading to the finals to crown the champions.

As committed to promoting all sporting disciplines in Bakau, the tennis competition is the first on the 2026 competition calendar. Finals for the competition are slated for Friday 17th, May 2026 (Sunday).

Double Finals at 9AM, Ladies Singles at 4PM, and Men's Singles at 5PM, respectively.

📢🚨EMERGENCY ALERT!

It has come to the notice of the Bakau Sports Committee (BSC) that some unscrupulous individuals have formed themselves and connived to break into the store at the park, where the building materials procured for the ongoing construction of the pavilion are kept.

Such attempts not only undermine the progress of the constructions, but it's setting a very bad precedent. We therefore call on all stakeholders, residents around the park, and the public to stay vigilant and support in the monitoring to avert such dangerous attempted threats.

We want to be unequivocally clear that any perpetrator who is found wanting for such actions will be dealt with the full force of the law.

We hereby encourage more community policing and greater surveillance to counter such threats.

The construction of the second phase of the pavilion at the Bakau Mini Stadium under Mannasi Architects & Construction Limited is steadily gaining momentum. Thus, we bring you a "Progress Report" at the Park.

In a monumental achievement, our President, Ousman "CHO" Drammeh, has been elected (unopposed) as the President of the newly formed African National Team Managers Association (ANTMA) in Rabat, Morocco.

This achievement came following the conclusion of a hybrid program of the FIFA Campus Essential Course for National Team Managers. Ousman, through his resilience, completed a series of online modules (self-paced and virtual sessions) together with other participants. This occurred before they met on the on-site module at the FIFA Campus.

Our President thanked FIFA and the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) for the course and networking opportunities.

The recently concluded course in Rabat, Morocco, focuses on the role of Team Managers, clarifying their scope of work and responsibilities and their strategic importance in the modern football ecosystem.

Our President continues to announce his presence on the global stage while maintaining standards in his operations. This achievement illuminates a path for future generations, serving as a beacon of dedication, intellect, and perseverance.

TRIBUTE TO MBYE CORR!

The entire Bakau Sports Committee (BSC) learned with shock the demise of a great brother, whose dedication and support towards the committee was immeasurable. Mbye has provided extensive coverage to the committee during their preparations ahead of their 2nd edition of the Awards Night.

We extend our condolences to the family of Mbye and pray Ya'ALLAH forgive his shortcomings, widen his grave, and grant him Jan'natul Firdaws.

A great loss to the entire sporting fraternity.

UPDATE!

The Best Player and Best Coach of the Nawettan Season 2025 earlier left the shores of The Gambia via the Banjul International Airport. This came following the announcement made by our pragmatic President at the BSC Awards & Gala Dinner hosted at Ocean Bay Hotel.

A promise made for the winners of those categories to have a weekend stay in Dakar, full board, has today been fulfilled. Bakary Demba, Best Player and Omar Joof, Best Coach, are accompanied by Musa Sanneh, Exco member of the sports committee.

We sincerely thank Cinderella Travel & Tours for this wonderful support in providing flight tickets. The players, as well as the committee, gladly appreciate the gesture.
