we've come a long way
đ Yes We've made a lot of huge strides, and it's awesome once again for we to reflect on how far đ we've come. let me introduce you to the crosley iceball refrigerator.
This was an unusual refrigerator that operated with no moving mechanical parts and required no electricity.
The device worked by heating a metal unit called the âballâ on a stove for about 90 minutes. This heating cycle forced ammonia gas out of a solution and stored it under pressure.
After heating, the unit was placed back onto the refrigerator box, where the ammonia slowly evaporated and absorbed heat from inside the cabinet, creating a cooling effect.
Once charged, the system could provide more than 24 hours of refrigeration before needing to be heated again. Because it required only occasional heating and had no mechanical components, the IcyBall was especially attractive for homes without electricity in the early 20th century.
