Breaking 🚨 William Troost-Ekong retires from the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Despite retiring from active play, Troost-Ekong will still travel with the squad to Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. However, he will be in a purely supportive, non-playing capacity, wishing the team well.
International Career
▪️He made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2015 in an AFCON qualifier against Chad.
▪️He formed a formidable defensive partnership with Leon Balogun, famously known as "The Oyibo Wall."
▪️He was instrumental in Nigeria's qualification for the 2018 World Cup.
▪️His finest moment came at the delayed 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire, where he captained Nigeria to the final and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
