Roller Sports – 1st International Francophonie Youth Skateboarding Championship: High-quality training to strengthen coaches and officials

Alongside the First International Francophonie Youth Skateboarding Championship, scheduled for January 6-10, 2026 in Cotonou, the Francophonie Union of Roller, Skateboard and Scooter (Francophonie Skate) is placing particular emphasis on training human resources within the Francophonie skateboarding community. Capacity-building sessions are therefore planned for coaches, judges, and competition managers.

As Benin's economic capital prepares to pulsate to the rhythm of skateboarding, Francophonie Skate aims to guarantee high-level competition through both theoretical and practical training. The objective is to improve the technical, pedagogical, and organizational skills of those involved in the development of the sport within the Francophone community.
These training programs are structured around three main, complementary components. The first focuses on the roles and responsibilities of the coach, with a detailed approach to training components and levels, as well as teaching methods adapted to modern skateboarding. The second component covers theoretical and practical judging. It includes an in-depth study of judging criteria, the use of official scoring grids, and video judging exercises, essential for standardizing officiating practices. The third component concerns the preparation and organization of competitions. It emphasizes human resource management, the clear definition of roles, and the logistical preparation of sporting events

Beyond their educational value, these training programs offer a genuine professional development opportunity for coaches and officials. They are part of a comprehensive strategy to prepare young Francophonie athletes for international competitions, particularly the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. By providing a structured and demanding training framework, Francophonie Skate affirms its commitment to professionalizing Francophonie skateboarding, strengthening local skills, and fostering the emergence of new talent capable of excelling on the international stage.

Sakumono Skating Games 2025: Youth Stars Shine Bright.🌟

Ghana Skate proudly celebrates the epic success of the 6th Sakumono Skating Games, held Saturday at Sakumono SSNIT Flats Enclave, Tema West. Over 15 clubs from across Ghana brought 450+ young skaters to compete in 24 age- and gender-segmented races Inline speed, Inline Freestyle, and thrilling roller sport demos lit up the day.

Families, community leaders, and even a delegation for Tema West MP Hon. James Enu packed the venue, cheering on our rising talents. Ghana Skate National President, Greater Accra Regional Chairman, and execs were there too, backing this grassroots powerhouse.

Numbers are booming more kids discovering skating, building discipline, confidence, and teamwork. This isn't just sport; it's youth empowerment in motion.

During the electoral congress held today, September 7, in Rome, delegates from 73 countries unanimously re-elected Sabatino Aracu as president of World Skate and Karen Doyle as vice-president. The president of CONI, Giovanni Malagò, and the president of ASOIF, Francesco Ricci Bitti, also participated in the Assembly. The president of the IOC, Thomas Bach, sent a letter that was read at the beginning of the meeting.
The continental presidents of World Skate were also elected today.

Accra, Ghana – A new executive committee has been sworn in to lead the Ghana Skaters Association (GHASA) for the next four years. The 11-member team, comprised of experienced individuals, is headed by President Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportufe.

The newly elected executives include:

The new leadership team was elected following an online election overseen by an election committee chaired by Hon. Kwadjo Baah Agyemang. Lawyer Devine Kweku Asigbetsey, who also serves as a member of the committee, administered the oath of office to the new executives.

In his inaugural speech, President Kportufe outlined his vision for GHASA, emphasizing the importance of making roller sports accessible to all Ghanaians and promoting the sport as a tool for youth development and social change.

The new executive board is committed to developing grassroots programs, improving infrastructure, enhancing coaching and training programs, strengthening partnerships, and promoting roller sports as a positive force in Ghanaian society.

ASSOCIATION OF AFRICAN SPORTS CONFEDERATION ( UCSA/AASC) WORLD SKATE AFRICA CONFERS WITH GHANA SKATERS ASSOCIATION ( GHASA) IN ACCRA

Representatives of Association of African Sports Confederation ( UCSA/ AASC) World Skate (Africa) on the 13th of March 2024 held an exclusive meeting with the top echelon of the Ghana Skaters Association (GHASA) at the La Beach Hotel.

UCSA/AASC who are the also the organizers of the Africa Games had two representatives, two representatives from the World Skate Africa, and two representatives from GHASA made up the meeting.

The core of the meeting centered on how Roller Sports can be integrated into the 14th Edition African Games to be hosted by Egypt.

USCA had ultimately wanted to know how big Roller Sports was in the world and in Africa .

Mr. Konan Julien and Freddy Marius Tchibozo representing the World Skate body as General Secretary and Treasurer respectively maintained that World Skate Africa had over 30 African Countries who are ready to express their desire to affiliate to USCA/AASC. They said they tried to join in 2016 but were unsuccessful.

President of USCA/AASC, Gen Ahmed Nasser M.K. Mohammed impressed on World Skate Africa to prepare and re- submit new documents to their outfit since there has been changes in requirements since 2016.

He admonished the leadership of World Skate Africa to have periodic engagement with USCA AASC and be willing to abide by the constitutional provisions of the body when all goes well.

The World Skate Africa representatives informed General Nasser on their last General Assembly in 2022 and provided information on the preparedness of skateboarding towards the Paris Olympics this year.

Mr. Nasser assured World Skate Africa of their readiness to assist to develop Roller Sports through the African Games and the Olympic Games.

The Ghana Skaters Association GHASA was advised to put their house in order and take advantage of the benefits of the affiliation to UCSA/ AASC.
