Environmental Health Officers are not a luxury—they are a necessity.

As Ghana continues to face devastating floods, it is clear that prevention must become our priority. Qualified Environmental Health Officers are at the forefront of sanitation enforcement, drainage inspection, waste management, disease prevention, and community education—all essential measures for reducing flood risks and protecting public health.

Yet, many qualified Environmental Health Officers have remained unposted and unemployed since 2021, while our communities continue to struggle with poor sanitation and recurring floods.

Employing these professionals is not just about creating jobs; it is a sustainable investment in a cleaner environment, healthier communities, and a safer Ghana.

We respectfully call on the Government, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and all relevant stakeholders to prioritize the recruitment of qualified Environmental Health Officers. Together, we can build flood-resilient communities and safeguard public health.
