⚽️ PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY #2 | Old Malton ⚽️

Well… where do we even start with this one?! 😂

At times today we were genuinely wondering if we’d ever actually played football before. At 6-1 down at half time, there was a brief team meeting which mainly consisted of discussing whether we could just abandon the game, get to the pub early and pretend the first half never happened. 🍻🫠

BUT… credit where it’s due, the second half was a completely different game. We dug in, started playing some really good football and actually remembered what we were supposed to be doing! 😂 And if we’re going by halves, we actually won the second half… so we’re counting that as a win. 🏆😂

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that it takes us 45 minutes to warm into a game, which is something we probably need to sort before the season starts. Training is now getting serious… perhaps slightly too late into pre-season, but better late than never! 🫣😂

Our downfall, as always, was the lack of subs — honestly, the story of our lives. And let’s be honest, we’re not all young whippets anymore like Old Malton… some of us need a little longer to recover between sprints these days! 😂

Despite the scoreline, we’re immensely proud of the gals today. Everyone dug deep and there were some really great moments of football.

And a HUGE shoutout to Soozee, who played her first ever 11-a-side game in goal today! 🧤👏 Some seriously good saves and she’s already showing signs that she could soon be giving Hannah Hampton a run for the England #1 shirt. Watch your back, Hannah. 😂🏴

And of course, no match day is complete without a trip to Ainsty afterwards! 🍻 We headed back after the game for some much-needed food AND our end-of-last-season presentation. Huge shoutout to Ainsty for looking after us and for the great hospitality as always! 💙

You can catch us down at Ainsty after every home game… and yes, we will give you autographs if you ask nicely. ✍️😂

Another one ticked off, plenty to work on, but loads of positives to take into the next one.

Same chaos. Same gals. Just slightly fitter… hopefully.

⚽️ SUNDAY = NEW SIGNING DAY! 💙🤍

We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Millie to the team this season! 🙌🏼

Millie started training with us over the summer and has slotted into the team like she’s been playing with us for years — always a good sign! 😂

She’s got a beautiful strike of the ball and reads the game so well, and we got a glimpse of exactly what she can bring in our first pre-season match last week. 👀

The partnership she created on the pitch with the rest of the team was brilliant to see, with some great link-up play already starting to develop. 🤝🏼⚽️

And before anyone asks… we can’t roast a newbie just yet. 😂 We don’t want to scare people away before they’ve even made it through pre-season! 🤣

We’re so excited to have you with us, Millie! 💙

💙🤍 PRE-SEASON IS UNDERWAY! 🤍💙

First pre-season run-out done and safe to say the weather decided to join in… 🥵😂 A very muggy afternoon, plenty of sweating and hydration breaks needed to keep everyone alive!

Despite the heat, there was some really lovely football on show from both sides, with some absolute class goals along the way! ⚽️🔥

A special mention to our new additions Isla, Lucy & Millie, who fitted into the squad brilliantly and looked like they’d been part of the team for ages! 💙🤍👏🏼

And a shoutout to Coco, Lucy & Shannon, who all got themselves on the scoresheet! ⚽️💥

A really useful first run-out for the ladies as we get minutes in the legs, build those partnerships and continue preparing for the season ahead.

Massive thanks to Boroughbridge AFC Ladies for hosting us and for a great game! 💙🤍 Wishing you all the very best for the season ahead⚽️

We’ve had some brilliant new additions to the squad over the summer and we’re so excited to get the new season started! ⚽️🙌

We’re still on the lookout for 2 or 3 more players to add to the squad… and we’d especially love to find an experienced goalkeeper 🧤

RETAINED: HANNAH STAYS! 💙🤍

We’re delighted that Hannah is staying with us for another season!

After a little time away, she’s back… and let’s just say there was no mystery about where she wanted to play. After a few appearances on the left wing before her break, she made it very clear to the coach that it was left wing or nothing. Safe to say… she got her way. 💁🏼‍♀️⚡️

Training? She’s there. Match day? She’s there. She’s not one for excuses… unless you’re asking her to play left back again. 😂

One thing that’s just as consistent as her work rate? Her hair is always on point. Ninety minutes of football and it somehow still looks like she’s just left the house. We need answers.

Fast, fearless and now causing chaos down the wing instead of stopping it, we’re buzzing to have Hannah back in blue and white for another season! 💙🤍

RETAINED: SHANNON STAYS! ⚽

Shannon is back for another season in the heart of midfield.

She’ll be turning up every Sunday ready to complain about something, sporting one of her five pairs of boots and a fresh layer of fake tan that’s carefully applied the night before… only for it to be washed off within 20 minutes of a classic British kick-off. 🌧️😂

Every pre-season starts with the famous words, “I’m getting fitter this year.” Every match starts with, “How long have we been playing?” after the first 10 minutes.

Despite being one of the loudest complainers when fitness is involved, she’s somehow also the first to suggest shuttle runs whenever the coach isn’t around. Unsurprisingly, this is usually met with a collective sigh from the rest of the squad.

Wouldn’t have it any other way. Welcome back, Shannon! 💙👊

🔒 RETAINED PLAYER | ABBY 🔒

First up, our captain Abby! 💙

Our very own Trent Alexander-Arnold of Sunday League. Loves a slide tackle so much she usually leaves half the skin off her leg somewhere on the pitch.

Always turning up with the speaker and the tunes to get everyone fired up in the changing rooms, keeping morale high with her legendary one-liners mid game and leading by example.

She’s 100% committed to the team… right up until it’s BBQ and pint weather, then training suddenly becomes optional. 🍔🍺😂

Now the only question is… will she keep the own goals to a minimum this season? 👀⚽
