RI Ladies took on our RI Recreational team on Sunday in a 7v7 friendly 🤝
Great run out for both sides, a few goals, some lovely passing play from the whole team, and a clean sheet to top it off!

Final game of the 2025/26 season today and we’re fairly certain VAR would’ve had a very busy afternoon…

While we were warming up, one of the Old Malton players walked past and made a sarcastic comment about how athletic we all looked. We’re choosing to take that as a compliment… confidence boost before kick-off and all that 😅

The first half was tough going. A few of us were still recovering from last week’s game after such a long break from football, and after 45 minutes we unfortunately found ourselves 7–0 down.

Now, we always respect our referees… however we did feel at least four of their goals were offside. We were also given a penalty against us for a foul, which in our very unbiased opinion would probably have been outside the box if VAR had been available. But that’s football 👀

We had a good half-time team talk with plenty of laughs and came out for the second half looking like we’d suddenly remembered we actually can play football and pass to each other.

Although the restart didn’t go exactly to plan… about two minutes after kick-off Shannon unfortunately deflected a shot into the net for another Old Malton goal. One for the highlights reel… just maybe not our highlights.

The positives? We scored two great goals in the second half from Molly and Coco! Great to have you both back after missing last week! ⚽

And because this season likes to keep things interesting, a few injuries meant we had to play most of the second half with 10 players. Huge credit to Old Malton and their coach though, who kindly offered to go down to 10 players as well, great sportsmanship 👏

Not quite the end to the season we’d hoped for, but we’ve now got plenty of time to rebuild and recover ready for next season 💪

And just to put things into perspective… if you take away the four offside goals, Shannon’s own goal, and the penalty that probably wasn’t a penalty, the game would’ve actually finished 3–2… which sounds much better in our opinion 😉⚽

Last league match of the season for the ladies today! ⚽️

And for the first time in what feels like forever… we have a substitute. Yes, an actual bench. Real squad depth. We’re not sure how to behave. 😅

Here’s your squad taking on Old Malton down at RI, 2pm kick-off.

After weeks of rocking up with the bare 11 and a lot of hope, today we’re feeling unusually organised… which is slightly suspicious.

Come down and support the ladies if you fancy watching a bit of football🫶🏼

⚽️ Match Report – After 77 Days Out! ⚽️

After 77 days without a game (yes… we counted 😅), we were finally back in action on 1st March and we knew it was going to be a tough one.

Going in with the bare 11 players, no subs, no game time in months, and up against Marske Ladies who are pushing for promotion… we definitely weren’t easing ourselves back into it gently.

The final score ended 11–1. A heavy defeat on paper, absolutely. But the determination from every single one of our 11 players is something we’re incredibly proud of. Not one head dropped. Not one player gave up. We battled for the full 90 minutes. When you’re not expected to win a game like that, effort and attitude is all we can ask for and the ladies delivered that in bucket loads 💪

Special moment alert: we did tell Abi she couldn’t leave us if she didn’t score today… and, not surprisingly, she delivered! Gemma swung in a beautiful free kick, and Abi calmly finished it leaving us all smiling 😍⚽️

Massive shout out to Marske as well, who were such a friendly and lovely team to play against. A proper class side on and off the pitch. Best of luck for the rest of your season👏

Now for the emotional bit… 💔
Our goal-scoring machine Abi is leaving us for Sweden 🇸🇪. It’s been an absolute delight having her on our team. Goals, graft, and probably a few chaotic moments thrown in for good measure. We’ll miss her loads! We wish her all the very best on her new adventure.

We’ve only got one game left this season, so we’re on the lookout for friendlies — 11-a-side or 7-a-side, we’re not fussy. And as we start regrouping for next season, we’re also looking for new players! Experience would be lovely… but honestly, if you’re committed and up for a laugh, you’ll fit right in.

We train Thursday nights, and a few of the ladies are even looking at extra sessions during the week (look at us being all committed and that 👀).
