Lankan Lions Yorkshire kicked off their LPL UK 2026 campaign in dominant fashion, defeating Manchester Lions by 132 runs.
After posting a formidable 253/9 in 40 overs, Yorkshire’s batting was led by Kasun Wijesinghe (56), Prabath Jayaweera (37), and Buddhika Rodrigo (34). Manchester’s bowling effort was spearheaded by Rasika Wijesinghe (2/35) and Dinusha Jayasekara (2/41).
In reply, Manchester Lions were bowled out for 121 in 26.5 overs despite Deemantha Bandara’s 31. Yorkshire’s bowling attack proved too strong, with Suranga Uragaha (3/23), Buddhika Rodrigo (3/24), Pavan Anushan (2/23), and Omer Iqbal (2/17) sharing the wickets.
A fantastic all-round team performance sees Lankan Lions Yorkshire start the season with a convincing victory and two valuable points on the board.
