Combe St Nicholas Colts 2-1 Yetminster Sports⚽️🩵♥️
Yetminster sports visited Combe St Nicholas on the last game before the christmas break. Yetminster started the game strong having a few chances. Combe grew into the game and kept our defence on their toes. Sports took the lead with a great bit of passing play between Tom Board, James Dowding, Pete Ellingham and Hayden Watts. With Hayden passing the ball to Tom who smashed a shot into the bottom right corner from 25 yards. Both teams had a handful of chances with Combe getting a goal ruled out for handball. Ben Siddell made some excellent saves which kept Sports in the game.
Combe came out strong in the second half catching our defence sleeping and scored 2 goals within the first 20 minutes of the second half.
Hayden Watts found himself injured meaning that John Carey stepped up and made his debut for the club. Unfortunately John was knocked down causing an injury to his arm/shoulder.
In the last 15 minutes Sports went down to 10 men due to injury and not having anymore subs. However, this didn’t stop the lads as Sports had ample attacks to try and equalise. Ross Walters, Pete Ellingham and Tom Board played some good counter attacking football with Tom going in behind the defence and lobbing the keeper. Unfortunately the goal was ruled out to a suspicious offside. John Carey returned to the pitch despite his injury and nearly found himself on the scoresheet but unfortunately couldn’t quite get the shot past the keeper.
Combes defence stayed strong and Sports couldn’t find the equaliser.
MOTM was Aiden Halcomb again for some impressive defensive work, well done!🙌
