For those of you wondering what fish are swimming around in the Stew Pond on Epsom Common; these photos are a sample of the fish caught during a fish survey on the lake today.
All of the fish were really healthy, and there were good levels of mixed year classes across all species.
Today's survey was part of the ongoing management plan to create a fantastic mixed fishery, suitable for all anglers. #

If you're thinking of getting a bit of Pike fishing in, now Autumn has finally arrived; why not give our Speringbrook Sewer fishery a try.

All methods work well, lure, fly, and dead baits. Please make sure you only use single barbless hooks, as trebles are banned on all CALPAC fisheries.

The fishery is located in Snargate, Kent. Which is on the edge of the Romney Marsh.

Well, it's taken a long time, but finally, with help from Mick, Steve, Charley, and Dave, the five of us have cleared the dam end at the Stew Pond.
It certainly wasn't easy work, but with 35m² of brambles, numerous fallen trees, and lots of fishing line removed from the lake and bank, we now have a much improved fishery.
This area will be utilised in the future for hosting our Get Fishing Events. It will also make a great area for families to fish together.
There is still a little bit of tidying up to do, but if anyone fancies a days fishing without the worry of snags, this is the perfect spot.

Our last coaching day of the year was another very rewarding and successful day.

Working in conjunction with the Central Surrey Voluntary Action Group, we introduced thirteen new anglers to fishing at the Stew Pond on Epsom Common.

There were plenty of fish caught throughout the day, and many smiling faces achieved.

We will be offering more coaching days in the summer of 2027. Look out for these on the Angling Trust's Get Fishing website page.

Another successful CALPAC Get Fishing Event at the Stew Pond on Epsom Common.

And more importantly, another eighteen participants added to the growing list of newcomers, to the wonderful sport of fishing.

It really is very rewarding seeing the reaction of the participants, when they hook their first ever fish.

An unusual capture from our Padworth fishery on the river Kennet. This 7lb Bream ended day 2 of our experiment, to assess the health of the fish stock in our three fisheries.
All three days involved trotting maggots with a stick float. This ensured all variables would be the same for each fishery.
Day one at Sulhamstead produced: Roach, Dace, and Chublets.
Day two at Padworth produced: Roach, Dace, Perch, Bream, Gudgeon, and Brown Trout.
Day three at Bulls Lock produced: Roach, Chublets, Bleak, Perch, and Dace.
Sulhamstead and Bulls Lock were both crammed with silver fish throughout their entire length. Padworth, the fish were in the deeper water from the road bridge, for approximately 75m.
This is a sure sign the Hatchery is having an impact on the stock density. The river is also showing signs of natural recruitment, which is excellent news.
If anyone fancies a days trotting for silver fish, I can highly recommend any of the above fisheries.

For those of you searching for excellent Chub fishing. Try the CALPAC river Mole fishery in Cobham.
These photos were taken this morning, after I had cut all the swims in the downstream section.
This fishery is also available on a day ticket, which must be bought in advance via our website.
Just for the record, there are some nice Barbel lurking around too!

For those of you who like to fish for Barbel and Chub - you will be delighted to hear that our Padworth fishery on the river Kennet, has just received this year's stocking of Barbel and Chub from the Kennet Hatchery.
