Recently, fellow Sport Wales Coach Developer Donal O’Halloran (Badminton Wales) and I were honoured to attend a super Coach Development day - working with coach developers from Professional Game Match Officials, role playing an ‘equestrian coach scenario’, and filmed for the CD to watch back.

For anyone who needs to see this right now….success in our sport is not a straight line! 📈
It’s a rollercoaster. 🎢
And let’s be straight here - bad days in the sandpit are going to happen.

So seek progression over perfection. Every time!

And remember …. training ourselves and our horses is like chopping down a forest with a small axe.
You chip chip chip away.
For what feels like an eternity. Then one day the tree falls, and a big step forward is made. 💡Then you move on to the next tree.

Remember to journal your progress - and get a visual on the knotches in the wood you make.
You will only appreciate how far you have come when you take a look back.
Have a look at old videos and compare to now.
See the progression.
Let that give you hope, and resilience to continue on the bad days.

You got this. One piece at a time. It ain’t easy.
If it was, they’d call it football!

Coaching with company yesterday….
My 13 year old Labrador, Henry, loves checking in on my work days.
And he adores Flanders (Viv’s horse). Has done for years.
And Flanders is quite sweet on Henry too! A mutual appreciation society!
So it was lovely to see both having a lovely time in the arena yesterday!
Happy animals = happy humans.

The Addington Pony Club Spring show! Some lovely messages from the parents showing their appreciation which makes it all worthwhile!
