Weekend round up (part 2)

Blacks v Mid-Annandale AFC
8th Feb 2026

Heading over the border and not knowing what to expect…. We have returned home having had a lot of fun, playing some amazing football and all learning from today’s game.

Today we played Mid-Annandale AFC 2016’s and put on a really good showing.

Picking up from yesterday we restarted the game with good ideas and a lot of purpose. It got us on the front foot and led to lots of chances.

We played with heads up and passed the ball well on a smaller pitch.

We were all switched on and ready for challenges (Luca leading the way!!).

And one of the most enjoyable things was the game was played in the best (friendly) spirit.

A change of pace and some relaxed football where the kids can show what they’ve got, it’s much better like this!!

All 8 kids played very well today, switched to a few positions and responded really well to instructions.

MoTM goes to George. An excellent performance up and down the pitch, finding passes, playing 1-2’s, letting his shots go (and nearly breaking the crossbar).

The extended penalty shootout also sets us up well for festival season!

Well done kids for playing so well and parents for the early(ish) start for a Sunday.

Return fixture to be arranged soon.

Weekend round up (part 1)

Blacks v Miners
7th Feb 2026

A true game of 2 halves this afternoon.

Futsal isn’t working out so well for promoting football technique and team play, most games being a smash and grab physical contest. I think we are learning a lot more in 7v7 outside.

A slow start and a lesson to always respect the opponent. We were not in the game for the first half, low intensity and 2nd in almost every contest. Still creating chances on the counter attack and Miners’ keeper having a great game.

In the second half we were a different side. Playing on the front foot, talking, being ready to receive the ball and scoring goals.

The score swung both ways and ended up an even game.

Both goalkeepers were men of the match, but I think we left with the feeling we should have got a couple more.

Outdoors tomorrow and a chance to concentrate on playing football and not just battling for the ball and hoping for the best.

Saturday 22nd

Blacks ⚫️

‎A long awaited challenge Blacks versus Reds.

From an intense battle at futsal last season to a proper sporting contest this morning. Our Blacks lined up against the very talented Red and put up their very good challenge.

Having to respond to excellent ball control slick passing and precise shooting was always going to be tough but the kids were determined and complete is very very well.

We managed to create chances apply pressure and keep the flow of the pretty game tight.

With some excellent tackling and dribbling. man of the match, as voted for by our loyal official supporters group, was Tom.

Tighter space and fewer players at futsal is difficult for us, but we are learning every week. Playing against the best side in West Cumbria show us the importance of tracking your man and talking to your teammates.

Whites 🤍

Whites played a really good game against Bransty u8s today being solid in defence and being just as good if not better going forward.

Passing and communication was the key focus for today's game and I can say I was happy how they did.

Luca and Thomas were brilliant in defence with Riley, Harry and Zac on the wings for most of the game doing really well going forward and defending

Jenson pressuring the defenders from attack and had a few good chances that just wouldn't go in for him

Zac motm given by the oppositions coach but a very big well done to every player today

Match today cancelled due to the weather but a fun filled afternoon for the kids as we head to go karting for our Xmas party. 🏎🎅
