‘If one more person says how calm and capable I am, I might actually cry.’
A leader I worked with recently told me, ‘If one more person says how calm and capable I am, I might actually cry.’
From the outside, she looked rock solid — leading a big mission, keeping the team steady, always ready with the right answer.
Inside, she was exhausted. She didn’t feel like she could show it to anyone — not her team, not her board, not even friends. She felt like if she cracked, the whole thing might unravel.
When we started working together, the first thing we did was give her a space where she didn’t have to be ‘on.’ No judgment, no pressure — just somewhere she could finally lay it all down.
We explored what she actually cared about — not just what the job demanded. We reset her boundaries so she could protect her energy without guilt. We built small, practical ways for her to show up with presence again, not just push through.
By the end of three months, she told me, ‘I feel like I’ve come home to myself.’ She was still leading — still strong, still dependable — but she wasn’t eroding herself to keep it that way.
That’s the kind of shift my coaching is here for: helping leaders keep their strength without losing themselves in the process.
