York city 2-3 Worcester city u13
Today our u13s travelled all the way to Yorkshire to play a national quater final against York city.
The squad travelled up yesterday and spent the night playing darts and relaxing knowing they had a big day coming up.
We didnāt know much at all about York but in all honestly we didnāt care, we came with a game plan and a job to do and this unbelievable group of lads did not disappoint.
The boys were chomping at the bit to get going and Iāve never seen them so up for a game,we started fast with Worcester dominating the ball and winning the first and second balls, we pressed York and gave them no time on the ball winning the ball back and forcing York back, the pressure paid off and our superstar George Antone picked the ball up wide left, checking inside and produced a moment of magic unleashing an unstoppable strike from 30 yards into the top corner.
We didnāt let off and forced a few decent saves from York cityās keeper with one resulting in a corner, George A delivered a pin point corner and our skipper jacub Ginns rose highest and headed Worcester into a 2-0 lead closing in on half time.
We limited York to a handful of chances but unfortunately after a scramble in the box the ball was fired passed felts and we went into the break 2-1 up.
Unfortunately our magician Ethan redman was feeling unwell and couldnāt get onto the pitch today which was a real shame so the boys had a bit of extra motivation to get this game won for him, Charlie Oscar and cohen made way and we sent on William, franko and Owen.
We knew we would endure some pressure as York would throw the kitchen sink at us. We did not buckle and we stayed strong defending everything they threw at us.
It turned into a real cup game with decisions going against us and fouls being missed, the frustration was building and just when we needed something to happen up stepped George Antone once again to fire city 3-1 up from inside the box with 15 to go.
York pilled it on and we saw another side to this team a side that will not surrender or falter, the boys put their head where it hurt at times and threw their body on the line when needed.
York nicked one late on but the boys held on to march into the semi finals.
The message was clear today that win lose or draw as long as we gave absolutely everything the we couldnāt ask for any more but the thing is when we do that I donāt think thereās a team that could keep up with us.
This was a real treat and an opportunity to make a memory that we all wonāt forget, we have made the journey and all we said to the boys was donāt have any regrets if the result went against us and they certainly showed us how much this moment meant to them.
Myself and Ashley are so proud of the team we have become and I know the parents felt the same way but I just hope the boys are proud of what they have done and what they are doing as itās an unbelievable achievement to play a strong pre academy side from up north and beat them at their own ground.
Undefeated in the league
Undefeated in the cup
Could we do the double ???

Jacub Ginns gave a real captains performance today and lead by example, he runs his heart out week by week and is someone that inspires his team mates, if Iām being honest he inspire myself with his desire to drive this side forward. a great goal aswel young man.

George Antone
Absolutely masterclass from our winger today, George ran York ragged, battled for everything and score two great goals at very important times. This lad gets better game by game and has became such a valuable player in this team.

I really donāt know what to say about this lad, has played multiple positions all season and wears the no 10 jersey but over the last few weeks George has played l/b and has been faultless, we decided to stick him there today and he didnāt disappoint bringing the ball out from the back every time he was asked, George bullied yorks winger all game and drove forward to add to our attacks, proud of you GeorgešŖ
