City o -3 DK performance

A loss in the national playoffs but our u13s won the midlands Jpl league without losing a single match what a fantastic effort from our superstars šŸ’™šŸ’™

And that’s a wrap guys.

Unfortunately we fell short again today losing to a better team and we have to hold our hands up to that.
Before I get onto our unbelievable season I just want to briefly gloss over today’s match.

In the semi final I personally felt the occasion got us as a team and I felt on reflection we could and should have done better which left a bitter taste but we leave that in the past.

Today I felt we as a team took all of that on board and every single lad ran and battled there hearts out on that field abs left everything they had at Perdiswell and for that I could not be any prouder of them.
We said to the lads before hand that if this was to be our last game of the competitive season then don’t have any regrets and they shouldn’t have because they were simply brilliant and it’s ok to say we lost to a better team.

We have come together this season as a new group and have had to figure out certain things in game situations, they have excelled in all of our expectations and for a first go in the Jpl they have not only gone unbeaten but won the midlands league at a canter and for that alone they are champions in so many ways.

They can hold their heads high knowing they are the best team in the whole of the midlands and on reflection know that what they have achieved is something special.

We have only lost twice all year and lost to two very very strong sides and that isn’t anything to be ashamed of. we have travelled afar and been triumphant, we have dug deep when needed and we have put teams on notice that Worcester city are a team to be feared.
This is the start of our journey and yes we need to strengthen in certain areas and we will and next season we will be even better than we have been this year.

Be proud lads as what you have done is massive and I, ash and all of your parents couldn’t be any prouder of you.

You are all winner in my eyes

Thank you for an incredible season and all of the memories you have given usšŸ’™

City 2-5 360 academy

Today our lads fell short loosing to a very strong Yorkshire side and unfortunately were unable to reach the final.

I think if I am being completely honest the occasion got to us and the nerves were clear to see, we played against a big physical side today who had three quick and massive forward players and if the truth be told hurt us all game. I don’t think I have seen a team that big at 13 years of age and it was a task too tall today.

As you can see with the stats we comfortably edged the possession which has been one of our goals this season to keep hold of the ball we and made almost double the passes than our opponents so really pleased with the boys trying to play the right way, unfortunately when you have that much quality upfront and play over the top it’s really hard to keep them at bay and that’s really how the game played out but fair play to 360 and all the best for the final.

We came together at the start of the year a completely new team, we have had to work on a system and style of play which takes time to develop and for this group of young men to not only go unbeaten all season, to go away and play some top teams around the country and for us to even reach the national semi final is an unbelievable achievement and we as coaches and as a club could not be any prouder of them.

We have just found out that we have been crowned the midland Jpl champions today winning the league and beating everyone along the way and doing so undefeatedšŸ†šŸ†šŸ†šŸ†

This is just the start of our journey and we will learn so much from today and it will only make us stronger going forward.

Well done lads šŸ’™

šŸ† Refs mom šŸ†

Myles jones got the nod from the ref and boy did he deserve it, Myles has been almost faultless this season and always puts his body in the line for his team and he needed to do that again today, 360 had probably the best striker we have come up against this season and it was Myles job to deal with him which was no easy task but I thought he did superbly well.

šŸ†Players momšŸ†

Lucian griffin, lush has been our engine all year and today it was no different as he chased everything down and produced moments of magic once again, he is a vital part of what we are trying to become and it’s clear his teammates think so too.

šŸ†Coaches momšŸ†

This one was tough as a few players could have got it but we decided that after his performance Felton Lewis deserved the award.

Felton has come on leaps and bounds this season and he was called upon more than usual today with 360 pulling out the best of our fabulous no 1 keeper.

A massive happy 13th birthday to Worcester’s no1. Have a great day Felton

Wolves u14 (women) 0-6 city

Another win for our u13s travelling up to wolves on Saturday. The boys have given themselves a real chance of winning the league with one more win needed with three matches to play. Our fantastic team are yet to taste defeated this season and have done us all proud so far.

We were without Logan due to illness, Oscar was injured, George A rolled his ankle after 5 minutes so we were really light and restricted to what we could do, x5 boys had to play out of position and all stepped up to the mark when we needed them most.

After a few missed chances city took the lead after 15 minutes with the very busy cohen fox outmuscling the wolves c/b and smashing the ball home. Cohen didn’t have to wait long to double his tally and after a moment of magic from Jake Ginns who burst down the left hand side he delivered a fantastic cross on his weaker foot and cohen headed it into the far corner, (made up for cohen as he dosent score many with his head).

Half time came and we restricted wolves to 0 shots on or off target which was a brilliant achievement again with a make shift formation so credit to the lads for that.

We started the second half and upped it a gear as we pinned wolves back in there own half and peppered the goal hitting the bar and post 5 times. It’s been a bit of a reoccurring problem for us this year and if we are being critical we have missed a lot of clear cut chances and that’s something the boys have been working hard on getting right in training, I was always told it’s not missing them that’s the problem it’s if you are not creating chances and the boys certainly create a lot so I’m sure we will be hitting double figures against someone soon enough.

Jake was next on the scoresheet and after missing 2/3 we could see his frustration building but he connected perfectly volleying the ball home from outside the box giving the wolves keeper no chance.

Cohen superbly got his hatrick after a well waited through ball from lucian, cohen put on the burners and ran through to lift the ball over the keeper into an empty net.

We were so pleased with the crosses that were put into the box especially after not having our two wide men available and it finally paid off after some great work from fin Insall down the right who left the full back for dead and his cross found Georgey booth who finished well inside the area.

Fin completed the scoring and we were all so pleased for him as he ran his heart out all game. Fin bombed down the right before noticing the keeper was off her line and chipped it into the far corner (it definitely wasn’t a cross šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰).

Again a big shout out to all the lads playing multiple positions and the boys who were carrying knocks they certainly showed a winners mentality on Saturday and we were proud of all of them.Oscar managed to get onto the pitch even though he was struggling as we had no subs left. Felton was in tears before the game as he’s been struggling with a fractured thumb but there was no chance of him not playing as he strapped it up and produced another clean sheet.

Refs mom šŸ† jacub Ginns

The skipper got the nod from the officials and we couldn’t disagree. Jake gives 110% week in week out and really does lead by example driving his team forward all game and we were really pleased he got his goal (even tho he saved the hardest chance till last) . A real captains performance Jake.

Coaches mom šŸ† cohen fox

Cohen has had a up and down season so far if I am being honest and he out of all of the boys frustrates me the most because he has so much potential but we don’t always get to see it each week. After a brief chat expressing this with him we got to see the potential and it was great to watch. Cohen is a real handful for anyone, he’s lighting fast, strong as they come and he has a great strike on him. So proud of his effort and his performance on Saturday and thoroughly deserved his hatrick.

Players mom šŸ† fin Insall

We get to the boys and go round asking who they thought deserved mom and it went like this

Fin fin fin fin fin fin fin fin fin fin fin etc

Fin has been out of this world this season and his performance on Saturday was as good as it gets in my opinion, he covers every blade off grass gives 110% and not 1% less. He is such a big part of what we achieved so far this season and he seems to be getting better ea h week.
he started at left back moved to right back (came off with a big nose bleed) went back on at right wing and ran the show in every position. This boy has a big future ahead of him.

York city 2-3 Worcester city u13

Today our u13s travelled all the way to Yorkshire to play a national quater final against York city.

The squad travelled up yesterday and spent the night playing darts and relaxing knowing they had a big day coming up.

We didn’t know much at all about York but in all honestly we didn’t care, we came with a game plan and a job to do and this unbelievable group of lads did not disappoint.

The boys were chomping at the bit to get going and I’ve never seen them so up for a game,we started fast with Worcester dominating the ball and winning the first and second balls, we pressed York and gave them no time on the ball winning the ball back and forcing York back, the pressure paid off and our superstar George Antone picked the ball up wide left, checking inside and produced a moment of magic unleashing an unstoppable strike from 30 yards into the top corner.

We didn’t let off and forced a few decent saves from York city’s keeper with one resulting in a corner, George A delivered a pin point corner and our skipper jacub Ginns rose highest and headed Worcester into a 2-0 lead closing in on half time.

We limited York to a handful of chances but unfortunately after a scramble in the box the ball was fired passed felts and we went into the break 2-1 up.

Unfortunately our magician Ethan redman was feeling unwell and couldn’t get onto the pitch today which was a real shame so the boys had a bit of extra motivation to get this game won for him, Charlie Oscar and cohen made way and we sent on William, franko and Owen.

We knew we would endure some pressure as York would throw the kitchen sink at us. We did not buckle and we stayed strong defending everything they threw at us.

It turned into a real cup game with decisions going against us and fouls being missed, the frustration was building and just when we needed something to happen up stepped George Antone once again to fire city 3-1 up from inside the box with 15 to go.

York pilled it on and we saw another side to this team a side that will not surrender or falter, the boys put their head where it hurt at times and threw their body on the line when needed.
York nicked one late on but the boys held on to march into the semi finals.

The message was clear today that win lose or draw as long as we gave absolutely everything the we couldn’t ask for any more but the thing is when we do that I don’t think there’s a team that could keep up with us.

This was a real treat and an opportunity to make a memory that we all won’t forget, we have made the journey and all we said to the boys was don’t have any regrets if the result went against us and they certainly showed us how much this moment meant to them.

Myself and Ashley are so proud of the team we have become and I know the parents felt the same way but I just hope the boys are proud of what they have done and what they are doing as it’s an unbelievable achievement to play a strong pre academy side from up north and beat them at their own ground.

Undefeated in the league
Undefeated in the cup

Could we do the double ???

Refs mom šŸ†

Jacub Ginns gave a real captains performance today and lead by example, he runs his heart out week by week and is someone that inspires his team mates, if I’m being honest he inspire myself with his desire to drive this side forward. a great goal aswel young man.

Players mom šŸ†

George Antone

Absolutely masterclass from our winger today, George ran York ragged, battled for everything and score two great goals at very important times. This lad gets better game by game and has became such a valuable player in this team.

Coaches momšŸ†

Georgey booth

I really don’t know what to say about this lad, has played multiple positions all season and wears the no 10 jersey but over the last few weeks George has played l/b and has been faultless, we decided to stick him there today and he didn’t disappoint bringing the ball out from the back every time he was asked, George bullied yorks winger all game and drove forward to add to our attacks, proud of you GeorgešŸ’Ŗ

City 1-0 Stourbridge

Worcester City u13s took a missive step towards winning the league for the first time today beating second place Stourbridge in a scrappy affair at Perdiswell. We feel the conditions played into our opponents hands today with the wind kicking up and the ball bobbling all over the place and with Stourbridges physical presence we had to dig deep at times and tough it out and we couldn’t have asked for any more desire, heart and effort from the lads. We love to get the ball down and play football and to the boys credit they did not stop trying to do that all game even with the pitch killing our style of play at times, there were some fantastic moments where the boys popped it about in tight areas and really made our opposition look average continuing to not go long and religiously play out from the back.

After an early injury to our striker cohen was forced to come off which meant we had to juggle the team around with a good few playing in different positions, the first 40 minutes was pretty scrappy tbh and we struggled to get a hold of the game, our defence was solid today winning a physical battle in the air and on the ground and a big shout out to them as we restricted Stourbridge to a handful of chances.

Felton Lewis made another clean sheet and was called upon in first quarter coming out to narrow the angle and deny stours striker from taking the lead, we had a couple of chances of our own but a draw was probably fair going into the break.

The boys have been asked to take on a lot this season being a new team etc and have had to learn on the job at times and we probably forget they are only 12/13 years old and what they have done in such a short amount of time is nothing short of amazing. The pressure was there today and understandably so and they admitted at half time that they were feeling. This is natural and we are yet to lose this season and everyone in the league has been chasing us down and hoping we would slip up all year but this group of lads are different and have got it all and everyone single time they are asked or tested they simply step it up a notch and deliver every single time and that is a sign of winners!!!’

The second quarter we came on top more creating chance after chance that unfortunately went begging but the longer the game went on it was clear there was only going to be one winner, after a very intelligent pass by George A splitting there back 4 in half he put Logan Harriman through on goal and the always impressive Logan composed himself, set and fired the ball past the keeper and put us in front.

Logan was then cruelly denied a second which I think would have killed the game off and settled our nerves but unfortunately the referee had to go with their linesman who incorrectly deemed him
to be offside.

The boys dug in and battled to the end weathering a bit of a storm towards the end as Stourbridge threw everything at us but with Felton and the team defending bravely I think we were all glad to hear the final whistle.

6 points clear with four games to go the league is in our hands and I have no doubt the boys will get the job done.

Referee mom šŸ†FELTON LEWIS šŸ†

Felton has been fantastic all season and has really strengthened this side up giving the lads at the back reinsurance and confidence always stepping up when called upon. He made 3/4 big saves at important times today and should be very proud of himself keeping another clean sheet.

Coaches mom šŸ†GEORGE BOOTHšŸ†

I mentioned earlier with the way the team has played out this year some players have had to play different positions and here has had to do that all season, today he started left wing, played cam and then finished off at left back and played every position superbly, Georges decision making was perfect today knowing when to play long and when to carry the ball. Some of his footwork in dangerous areas of the pitch today was simply top draw.

Players mom šŸ†LOGAN HARRIMANšŸ†
šŸ† LUCIAN GRIFFINšŸ†

The boys couldn’t split them today both with 5 votes a piece we had to share the players mom.

Logan is a constant threat to any team with his strong build and unbelievable pace, he runs fullbacks absolutely ragged and today was no different turning them inside and out. A very unselfish player always looking to make the right decision. Logan’s a big game player and always steps up at the important moments when me need him and today was no different, a fantastic finish to win us the game and very unlucky not to get his second.

Lucian

We may as well call this the lucian award as every week he seems to get the nod from his teammates , I can’t disagree tbh as lucian( as do others ) bring absolutely everything they have week in week out for the team and it’s nice that the boys recognise that. lush must cover every blade of grass on the field three times over, a huge player in the side and the engine of this blue winning machine!!!

Star soccer academy 2-3 city u13

Our Worcester city u13s marched into the national quarter finals after a real gritty team performance winning away against a very strong side from Leicester.

We are predominantly a new team this season and have battled from day one losing and bringing in new players. today our lads showed exactly what they are about after going 1-0 down early on and having the wind taken from our sails.

This did not deter us from our goal and slow us down, the boys rolled their sleeves up high and battled back and we almost conceded a second if it wasnt for our fantastic keeper Felton saving from close range to keep us from going 2-0.

City applied the pressure and it paid off after a fantastic delivery from George Antone who found the head of our c/b Owen who brought us back on level terms.

We had the bit between our teeth as we continued to push star soccer back and it was no surprise that our no 9 William Leonard did superbly well muscling off the defender to put in Logan Harriman to give us the lead before the break.

We made some changes and went out into the second half full of confidence but unfortunately after some pressure we found ourselves level going into the last 15 mins.

This was by no means a given and it was an absolute pleasure to watch 2 u13 teams go hell for leather for 70 minutes and the game could have really gone either way to be completely honest.

We had changes to make early on with our c/b going off early doors and the boys had to adapt and play different positions and that’s an amazing credit to them as they halted their opponents at every occasion.

After some great work from
George booth we managed to win a free kick
Just outside the box with seconds to go.

Lucian griffin who had been flawless all match stepped up to smash the ball into the top corner and send the parents, coaches and players into euphoria and put Worcester city into the national quarter finals.

A simply wonderful example of heart and desire from all 15 boys and we as a club couldn’t be any prouder.
