Beetle parts for sale

Empi shifter- Early design, Had this since 1995 and it was 2nd hand to me. Not seen one like this before, maybe rare? £75

Headlights- pre66 slopping units ,clear lens, complete with lamps. £100 pair

Rear tail lights- complete with lamps £40 pair

Beetle glass- front, back and one piece door glass.

Windscreen wipers, motor and linkage - £50

Got my son to do some stripping out of stuff that's not needed or heavy for the car, it was a street legal car last year but doesn't get used on the street so its going to be 100% racecar.
So far he has removed the headlights, rear lights, windscreen wipers and motor, door glass and mechanism and gearshift. Glass will all be plastic now, amazing how much the glass weighs.

Big changes are planned for the race car from now until the start of the new season. Hopefully will have a reliable, consistent car next year.
New gearbox, new drive shafts, launch control, clutch management system and maybe some other bits. Watch this space for updates. First thing though is to fix the campervan after lasts weeks shenanigans.

And the bad luck continued, the gearbox did explode in 1st eliminations which i kind of knew it would. Then on the way home the baywindow tow vehicle had a front wheel blow out on the A14, that was pretty scary but no one was hurt. Luckily I had a spare and we were on the way pretty quickly.
Then just to complete the weekend the towbar and bumper fell off as I was reversing the trailer onto my driveway. So definitely a bug jam to remember, two blowouts, a breakdown, broken racecar, broken baywindow and pod face. Still had a brilliant time though. I have to mention Thomas Braithwaite my son who wheelied the quarter mile on his bike in the human powered race.

Could do with some luck lately, struggled to get 3rd gear in rwyb but engine sounds strong. Into qualifiers and I had a money gear change from 2nd into 1st and gearbox has a crack in it now after all the internals tried to come out of the box. Done a bodge trying to seal gearbox up but will likely explode tomorrow morning for last qualifiers.
Either way my season is over and I make upgrades from now and over the winter to hopefully have a reliable car for next season.

We have arrived at bug jam, what normally takes two and a half hours took six hours. Crews T5 Had a blowout and took a couple of hours trying to find a replacement then the baywindow broke down two minutes from santa pod so had to be towed up to gates. Beers now needed.

So Monday evening the car was in a thousand bits, fast forward to now and I have a car on the trailer ready for Bug jam....

So Monday evening the car was in a thousand bits, fast forward to now and I have a car on the trailer ready for Bug jam. Lots of blood sweat and tears over the last few days but I made it.

Got the old broken gearbox out after work, tomorrow evening I'll remove the axles and put them on the new box.

Update on last weekend racing at the summer nationals. So I found out what the funny noise coming from the back end at last event, the diff was on its last legs. Had my old mate Lee Richardson and Gail richardson crewing for me who were a great help all weekend, even with a bad back. Many laughs were had.
Only got 2 qualifiers in on Friday and the diff was getting worse, after the second one car would hardly go around corners because the diff was locking up. Finally broke on third run on Saturday morning. Not the best thing to happen just before bug jam. So the search started for a temporary box just to go A to B at bug jam Luckily Ian Dale came to the rescue. All I have to do is now is take the old one out and put the car back together in 8 days.
Going to be a tight one, but its doable (just)
