We want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to The Junction for their incredible support of local grassroots football and for backing Wolverhampton Casuals U16s this season.

It’s brilliant to see a local business not only talking about supporting grassroots football, but actually putting that support into action. We genuinely couldn’t be happier to have The Junction on board with us.

What they’re doing is a great example to other local businesses of how you can support your local community, invest in young people and make a real difference. 👏

👏 RECOGNITION WHERE IT’S DUE 👏

Over the past few weeks, three of our Wolverhampton Casuals U16s have been heavily involved with the U18s, and at just 15–16 years of age, that is an absolutely massive achievement. 🟢⚽️

When the managers took on this team, one of their main aims was simple — to give our lads opportunities. That’s what football should be about: creating pathways, giving young players a chance to develop, and allowing them to show what they can do.

After only being at Wolverhampton Casuals for a few months, the club and its managers have already provided these lads with opportunities that many young players would dream of — and there are many more opportunities to come.

And most importantly, the lads have taken their chance. 👊

They have stepped up, embraced the challenge and shown that when you give young players an opportunity, they can rise to it.

It’s particularly special knowing that opportunities like this simply weren’t on the cards last year, because of the politics that can sometimes surround grassroots football.

But that’s all in the past now.

These lads are looking forward, developing, representing the club and showing exactly what they are capable of. 🔥

Wolverhampton Casuals U16s 2–3 Solihull Academy

A tough one today against a very strong Solihull side.

Goals from Shea Phillips and Adrian saw us race into a 2–0 lead, but unfortunately we couldn’t see the game out.

Plenty of positives to take, plenty to learn from and, most importantly, we keep moving forward.

A special mention for the club today — our first game at home and the matchday experience was fantastic.

We reset. We regroup. We go again Thursday.

🔥 MATCH REPORT | WINNERS AGAIN 🔥

Sutton Coldfield United 1–3 Wolverhampton Casuals U16s
📍 Romulus Ground | Away Fixture

Today we made the journey down the M6 to Sutton Coldfield for another pre-season test at the Romulus ground.

With another light squad, we knew this was going to be a serious workout — but more importantly, another massive test of character after last week’s brilliant win against the U18s.

Our instructions have always been simple.

As coaches, we take responsibility for everything they do on that pitch.

There is no pressure on the lads.

That pressure falls on me and Kieron.

And when you take that pressure away from the players, something happens…

They believe.

They play with confidence.
They express themselves.
They develop that winning mentality.

We also knew today would throw different scenarios at us. Players would have to adapt, positions would change and the lads would have to be comfortable being uncomfortable.

And that’s exactly what they did.

⚡ THE GAME

We started brightly and looked confident from the first whistle.

It was a tight and even game, with chances at both ends, but we felt we looked the more dangerous and relentless side.

Over the last few months, our style has evolved.

We have become a high-intensity, high-pressing, high-energy team.

And today that was there for everyone to see.

Every Sutton Coldfield player struggled to get a second to breathe.

We were on their touch.

Relentless.

Our first goal came from brilliant team play, moving the ball around them before Jake Evans delivered a fantastic cross to the back post.

Waiting there was Aman Govind, who produced a fantastic finish into the roof of the net.

💥 1–0 Cazzies!

At half-time, me and Kieron felt we were holding onto the ball slightly too much, so we made a few adjustments and asked the lads to be more aggressive in front of goal.

And they listened.

Adrian Mangue burst forward towards the edge of the box, found himself with space to strike…

And when Adrian hits it…

There’s only one place that ball is going. 💣

🎯 2–0 — ADRIAN MANGUE

As the game went on, tired legs started to set in and we had to reshuffle and make changes.

Sutton Coldfield managed to pull one back.

3–1? No. 2–1. Game on.

But one thing we can say about this group is that their mentality has improved massively.

They don’t quit.

They don’t fold.

And they certainly don’t give in when things get tough.

Just like the U18s game last week, we knew that if Sutton Coldfield pushed numbers forward, we could use that pressure against them.

And our attackers?

They don’t know when to stop.

With the ball played forward, Stan Clowes found himself outside the box in a position to cross — not exactly his natural game considering he’s a centre back!

But Stan put the ball on a plate for Adrian Mangue.

Adrian made no mistake from close range.

🔥 3–1 — ADRIAN MANGUE

GAME DONE.

Full time.
