Parkplay, 10am Saturdays, West Park - FREE fun, inclusive games

Back to school...Back to Parkplay

Parkplay is FREE community-led games. Inclusive, and built on the simple belief that play is for everyone, helping people in the community come together, connect, and be more active.

Where? West Park, Find us on Field 1, near the tearooms. Enter West Park via Connaught Road, turn right, and keep walking.

You'll spot the tearooms on your left and pass the toilet block on your right. Then keep an eye out for our green ParkPlay flag on the left - that's us! Look out for people wearing ParkPlay t-shirts.

Everyone is welcome - all children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (18+) who will be responsible for their supervision and behaviour at all times

Wolverhampton parkrun can only happen with the amazing Volunteer Team who show up every Saturday morning to set everything up so the 500+ runners can enjoy parkrun.

If you regularly run Parkrun and have never volunteered, then isn't it time you considered giving back? 🤷

Volunteering is great fun, and you get to meet a bunch of new people, plus you get a completely different perspective of ParkRun than when you're running it. 👀

It's only by volunteering that you get to truly understand the amount of organisation and planning that enables it to happen.

Whilst many people volunteer each week, many regular Parkrunners have never volunteered. If you're one of them, please consider volunteering soon. 🙌

Oh, and if the Volunteer Co-ordinator asks you to consider volunteering, please don't reply "No, I'm a runner" . Don't you think the volunteers are runners too?

⚠⚠Parkplay Wolverhampton (West Park) cancelled on Sat 1st August ⚠⚠

Unfortunately, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel this week's ParkPlay as we are without a fully trained Play Leader.

This decision was not taken lightly, but we have certain protocols that we need to follow to ensure we can keep everyone safe.

As a new ParkPlay, we are still building our Volunteer Team that will enable ParkPlay to happen...

We'll be back as normal 10am Sat 8th August 😎

If you're one of the many families who have already enjoyed ParkPlay, perhaps you can help out with...

👍 Welcoming people when they arrive
👍 Scanning people's QR codes
👍 Helping run games to keep the buzz going

ParkPlay is about rediscovering the joy of being active together. You don’t need to be sporty, just willing to join in. 👍

Fresh air, movement, and a friendly atmosphere can make a huge difference to how people feel, and West Park is the perfect place for it.

Activities are designed to be inclusive and easy to join, with the emphasis firmly on enjoyment rather than competition.

🌟🌟Please share with family and friends — a new free Saturday morning activity in Wolverhampton.🌟🌟

Wolverhampton to launch the West Midlands’ very first ParkPlay.

Offering people a chance to enjoy free, fun weekly outdoor activities designed to help them meet, move, and play in a relaxed, welcoming environment run by trained volunteers.

Wolverhampton West MP, Warinder Juss, is attending the first ParkPlay session.

He said: “ParkPlay is a brilliant initiative that encourages people of all ages to get active, have fun, and build stronger community connections. I’m delighted that Wolverhampton is leading the way as the first West Midlands host, and I encourage residents to get involved and give it a try.”

ParkPlay is about rediscovering the joy of being active together. You don’t need to be sporty, just willing to join in.

ParkPlay will run every Saturday morning and is open to everyone, regardless of age or ability. Activities are designed to be inclusive and easy to join, with the emphasis firmly on enjoyment rather than competition.

ParkPlays are FREE and sustainable because they are run by a small team of community volunteers, for the benefit of the whole community.

Often, parents who enjoy ParkPlay with their children end up volunteering as they are taking part anyway.

Me and my daughter are here in Northwood Park 9am-10am by entrance closest to Park Keepers House (entrance by Prestbury Medical Practice) to:

1. Gauge interest levels for launching 🚀🚀a ParkPlay in Northwood Park soon.

2. Enable people to register their interest in ParkPlay.

3. Recruit some volunteers to help us make this happen.
