“I feel fat.”
A phrase I hear from women all the time.
But fat isn’t actually a feeling.
When you stop and think about it, what you’re often feeling is:
• Bloated
• Hormonal
• Tired
• Stressed
• Puffy from a high-salt meal
• Frustrated
• Less confident than usual
• Running on poor sleep
Yet somehow, all of those feelings get translated into one statement:
“I feel fat.”
The thing is, your body didn’t change overnight.
One meal didn’t ruin your progress.
One weekend didn’t undo your hard work.
One bad body image day doesn’t define you.
Sometimes it’s not your body that needs fixing.
Sometimes you just need rest.
Sometimes you need perspective.
Sometimes you need to stop viewing yourself through the lens of your worst moment.
The next time you catch yourself saying, “I feel fat,” ask yourself:
“What am I really feeling right now?”
Because more often than not, what you’re feeling has nothing to do with body fat at all.
