Let’s say you train for 60 minutes every day of the week

That means you spend 7 hours of your week physically training in the gym

That leaves you 161 hours left of your week (quite a few right)

A lot of good can be done with those 161 hours… A lot!!!

I get it all the time…clients think they have to give up all the yummy foods, delicious treats and great tasting drinks they like

But on this occasion, the customer is wrong! Yep, I said it

You can’t keep eating and drinking the way you are and expect change, but that doesn’t mean you have to make drastic changes and cut everything out you like

You have to learn and educate yourself to work toward a specific calorie target to help reach your goals

Consume the foods you need, to hit specific macro targets, whilst also including the food you like, to create a compromise

Yes we can go out and enjoys ourselves anytime we want, but weekends usually includes more social activities 🍺🥂🍹🍿🍫🍕🍔

These activities may include more food and drink then you would normally have…AMAZING!

When working towards a goal, you do have to be strict in certain circumstances, but that doesn’t mean cutting out the food and drink you like all the time

Plan and track what you can where you can…plan ahead so you allow your daily calorie targets to include the food and drink you want…keep on top of workouts and daily activity

Why go out to enjoy yourself to only look back and feel annoyed and regret

Your main focus when training shouldn’t be based around your weight loss/fat loss goal

Your focus on training should be to help you improve yourself! whether that’s strength, cardio fitness, endurance, flexibility, mobility, mental health, etc

Any form of exercise (walking, sports, gym workouts, etc) can be a great tool to help you burn some extra calories, which will especially help those with weight loss/day loss goals, but that should be why you train

If you have a weight loss/fat loss goal, consider all aspects - general activity levels through steps, calories you consume, stress levels, how much sleep you get, how much water you drink - these are all aspects that, if done right, will help you achieve your goals…WITHOUT HAVING TO TRAIN

Training is then the added piece of the puzzle that allows you to become BETTER!!!

If your goal requires you to reduce your intake in calories, that doesn’t mean you have to cut everything you like out

It also doesn’t mean your meals need to be plain and boring

YES - you’ll need to make smarter choices at times

Yes - you’ll need to be aware where your calories come from

Yes - you’ll have to say no from time to time

But don’t complicate it. Think of these three thoughts!

1) are your current calorie and macro targets correct for your goal?

2) do you enjoy what you are eating?

3) can you see yourself sticking to your diet in the future?


If you answered NO to any of those questions, I will assume you’ll find it hard to reach your goals…so something needs to change

Plan ahead…be willing to work hard…and enjoy the process

Every workout won’t feel the same

Some days you won’t be as motivated, some days you won’t feel as rested, some days you won’t have as much time

The important thing is you show up

You show up and work your ass off no matter what!

It may mean on the day you have to change a few things to your workout plan but that doesn’t take away the fact you turned up, you trained hard, you stayed consistent and you got the workout in

Do you plan your workouts for each week?

We don’t all have the same schedules, the same amount of time to train, the same facilities available

Training doesn’t have to be 20mins, 30mins, 60 mins to get the results you want - sometimes it needs to be 20/30/60 mins because that’s maybe all the time you have available that day

Planning at your week ahead, working out when you will train, where you are training and how much time you have per session will allow you to plan a more affective session, still making it so it works towards your goals

Don’t simply turn up and try wing it!
