Today the lads faced icklesham in the cup. A great display from the lads with a dominating first half display going 1-0 up at halftime but unfortunately with couple lads not turning up they didn't have the strength in depth coming from the bench. Icklesham came back into the game second half and scored later in the half forcing penalties. A lottery no one wants to face and even tho they had the penalty to win they unfortunately went on to miss there next two and lose 7-6 on penalties. Congratulations to icklesham and good luck in the next round, what a great cup game !👊👏

Yesterday we faced Hollington hawks in the cup. With them being bottom of the league below we had everything to lose. So many unavailable we still had a good enough squad to win and dominated from the start. Missing a striker we had all the build up play with Cody turning them inside out and James a constant threat down the channel just missing the big man to hold the ball at the front, we took the lead halfway through the half through James ball, but then got complacent getting caught out on the counter attack with a ball from back to front they got in and nicked a equaliser. We pushed them back again and with Brad and Tyler's press in the middle we constantly turned the ball over and got back on the front foot. We soon pushed again and gained the lead, Cody turning there defence inside out and smashing home bottom corner. We missed Chances to extend the lead but went in 2-1 at halftime. 2nd half we still created chances but just missed that cutting edge infront of goal and in and around there box. As the game went on the home side grew into the game more playing long ball trying to get in and behind our backline but we defend pretty well. No goals 2nd half and the game finished 2-1. Into the 1/4finals we go!
Let's get the managers opinion. "If we are honest it wasn't the best performance but the fight was there to win, sometimes u have to win when your not at your best, shows character of a team. The energy levels was there but it just didn't really happen for us. Fair play to hollington hawks they made it a great cup match not giving up and staying in the game to make it a nervous last 5-10minutes. I don't see how they can be where they are in their league with a performance like that but that's football.
It was good to have Brad again his energy was great and Cody was a constant threat all game.
Into the next round and another game to get through ðŸĪŠ. Man of the match went to max massey a great 2nd half battle against their quick winger. 👏💊.

Tackleway 1-3 Wittersham
The lads finally got another game in this calender year! Hard to build off previous performances is hard when u can't get a run of games but the lads backed there fight with 10men against a top Pevensey side In yesterday's match in the cup against a side that beat them 4-1 early in the season. Playing at Bulverhythe is never easy especially with the poor pitches but the team adapted to the surface and played some good stuff first half having the run of the chances and guilty of missing the 3 best chances in the first half to be punished late on allowing a free header from a corner giving the home side a 1-0 lead at the break. 3 subs on at the break just to lift the energy levels again as the home team were already looking tired and first 20mins we didn't let them breath, pinned them in and got 3 great goals. J***y Duke jumped highest and headed in a pin point drilled corner from Cody followed shortly by Cody turning there full back inside out sitting him on his arse to then square to Alex gray to smash home, goal of the game then involved the same two players but this time Alex providing for Cody with a free kick 20+ yards out everyone expected a shot except these two with Cody coming from the outside down the back of the wall for Alex to provide him with the perfected weighted pass down the side of the wall for him to run onto and smash top corner. The football all being played one end the only disappointment was the amount of bad tackles the ref didn't get his card out for and us not extending our lead!! Great win! Over to the manger to give his thoughts, " well it was nice to have 14 strong players being available made it hard to pick the starting 11. Everyone put a shift in and even tho we went behind there was no panic because we were in control. There main threat was down the left attack but Jack at full back dealt with him well and when he did get through the centre backs cleaned up. Defensively we was so good again all the 5 lads that played across the back in the 90mins were top draw especially 17 year j***y Duke who I took a risk on by sticking him straight in the team and at centre back and payed me back with a man of the match performing display and getting himself a goal, he will only get better playing with experience of Joe guiding him. Midfield was good, plenty of width and control in the middle and always a threat going forward with the strikers. Alex and Brad changed the game 2nd half for me, brad was everywhere and Alex linked well with everyone/ put himself about and got himself a goal and assist. We had a few carrying injuries but got to manage there minutes a little bit to protect them for next. Only negative was losing kye for a few more weeks again to injury victim to some s**t tackles but no disrespect to them but that's all a few of them had over there game by the end. We build and go again availability is massive this time of the season to get a good run in the cups!

The lads finally got a game today with a dominant display in the cup against tackleway 3rds today 👏💊 match report to follow

Yesterday we faced Pevensey and westham in a 4pm k.o in Eastbourne, first game for 10 weeks was always going to be tough especially playing a side looking for a win to go level on points at the top of the league. We started well, very compacted and hit our opponents on the break limiting them to one attempt and us probably having the best chance with there keeper producing a great save to stop our top scorer from snatching a lead. Then on 35mins a shot from the home side skipped up of the 3g and hit our keeper in the chest and back out to there strikers feet resulting in a scramble and the keeper bring there player down resulting in a yellow card and penalty, with there manager having a lot to say the keeper and manager started shouting at each other resulting in the ref then giving there manager a yellow and our keeper a 2nd resulting in him being sent off and us down to 10. Joe sherwood took the gloves and was unlucky to not keep the pen out but we went in at the break 1-0 down. We wanted to keep our backline the same and get Joe back out field so not having another option for goal Greg stoodley stepped in and took the gloves. We battled hard, chased everything and still looked dangerous on the break when we could but we got pinned in and restricted them with shots from distance but unfortunately they managed to hit the net with a few. We did get one back at 3-1 and did have a couple more chances of maybe getting a 2nd and giving them hell last 5mins but the legs were gone with a unbelievable effort and they added a 4th late on giving them a 4-1 win. Let's get the managers view. Steve Buss " well 10 weeks without a game was always going to be tough but then to have to play the best footballing team in my eyes in the league with 10men was always going to be a massive task. The sending off was stupid, he knows that but anyone who plays this game knows when u make a mistake u want to try make things better and emotions get the better of u sometimes, I do think the ref could of handled it better especially when it involves someone from the side shouting his mouth off but I won't disagree with the decision and we move on. The lads were fantastic, we were so good at the back I know it sounds crazy saying that when we conceded 4 goals but if u see this game u couldn't argue. My lads left everything out there and the young lads were so mature in there performance and discipline guided by the older wiser boys. Unfortunately were in a place in the table where we shouldn't be but that's down to us to use yesterday's game to drive us into next week and try kick on. Man of the match was impossible to chose so went to the lads as a group. Dick of the day was always going one way 😂 Mark spicer.

It was a day to forget for the men's team yesterday. Even with the pitch being in a awful state that's not a excuse as both teams had to play on it and only one showed up! A lackluster performance but a flattering scoreline see Sedlescombe take the 3 points in a 6-1 win. Another one of those performances that certain players should take responsibility for! Move on to the next !

Yesterday the lads faced a tough Pevensey and westham side were on another day less mistakes and taking some of our chances we may have got something but take nothing away from the away side they punished us for a slow start again yesterday. Let's see what the manager thought. " tough one for us, a few key players missing but we had enough quality to give it a go. I thought first half we showed them too much respect and gave them too much space and with the lack of closing down and allowing the ball to keep going into our box it was always going to be tough. A slip on the first goal gave them a gift but that's just unfortunate. We could have folded but at halftime we regrouped, told them to get tighter and ruff them up abit see how they liked that and to be honest except for one save from our keeper 2nd half we had all the chances. We didn't have any attacking options from the bench so had to shuffle around and make do with what we had but the subs brought energy and the 2nd half we was much better even having to play with 10men for a spell because of a sin bin!. We move on and stick together see what the weather brings next week when we are due to play at home again !

Tough home game for the lads tomorrow as they come up against a Pevensey and westham side. 2pm k.o bar open!
