Two years ago today we opened the doors to Better Body Studios.

Since then we’ve watched people become stronger, fitter, healthier and more confident.

We’ve celebrated personal bests.

Supported people through difficult times.

Made great friends.

Had a lot of laughs.

And built an incredible community.

Thank you to every member who’s been part of the journey so far.

Here’s to many more years of helping people become stronger for life.

What they don’t expect is how important the people become.

Strength training is important.

Most of our members never thought they’d enjoy exercise.

Many felt intimidated by gyms.

Some hadn’t exercised properly for years.

Others had tried everything and given up more than once.

That’s exactly why they fit in here.

You don’t need to know what you’re doing.

You don’t need special gym clothes.

You don’t need to be fit before you start.

You just need to start.

The Mindset Shift That Changes Everything

When we’re young, training is often about results.

Lose a bit of weight.

Get fitter for a holiday.

Drop a dress size.

Look better in the mirror.

And there’s nothing wrong with that.

But eventually, your perspective changes.

You stop asking:

“How much can I achieve in the next 8 weeks?”

And start asking:

“Will I still be strong, active and independent 20 years from now?”

That’s a different mindset.

Because training for life isn’t about chasing quick fixes.

It’s about:

✔ Showing up consistently

✔ Building strength that helps you in the real world

✔ Looking after your joints and staying mobile

✔ Training in a way that’s sustainable

✔ Staying in the game year after year

The funny thing is…

The people who focus on the long term often get the best results anyway.

Not because they found a magic workout.

But because they never stopped.

Anyone can train hard for a few weeks.

The real challenge is staying strong, capable and healthy for decades.

The goal isn’t to win today’s workout.

The goal is to still be training when you’re 60, 70, 80 and beyond.

That’s the mindset shift that changes everything.

The goal isn’t to be the fittest person in the room.

Why Community Matters

One of the biggest reasons people struggle to stick to an exercise routine isn’t a lack of motivation, discipline, or willpower.

It’s because they’re trying to do it alone.

When you’re in your 40s, 50s, and 60s, life is busy. Work, family, ageing parents, social commitments, stress… there’s always something competing for your time.

That’s where community makes such a difference.

Knowing people are expecting to see you.
Training alongside others on a similar journey.
Having coaches and members who encourage you when motivation is low.

It turns exercise from something you have to do into something you actually look forward to.

The strongest results rarely come from the perfect workout plan.

They come from consistency.

And consistency is much easier when you’re part of a supportive community that helps you keep showing up.

That’s why so many of our members have finally managed to stick with training for years…..not weeks.

Because nobody succeeds alone.

Most people don’t struggle with exercise because they’re lazy.

They struggle because deep down…
their brain is trying to conserve energy.

For thousands of years, our ancestors only moved when they HAD to.

To hunt.
To gather food.
To survive.
Burning unnecessary energy could actually be dangerous.

Fast forward to modern life…

Food comes to us.
Work comes to us.
Entertainment comes to us.
Even shopping comes to us.

So movement is no longer built into life.

And that’s why training often becomes:
❌ “I’ll do it tomorrow”
❌ “I’m too tired”
❌ “I just can’t be bothered”

Exercise becomes the first thing pushed to the bottom of the list.

Which is crazy really…

Because movement is just as important as eating well, sleeping, or even going to the toilet.

It’s one of the single biggest things that determines:
• Your strength as you age
• Your mobility
• Your energy
• Your confidence
• Your independence
• Your quality of life

Training is what keeps us younger for longer.

So if you feel resistance to exercise…
you’re not broken.
You’re not weak.

You’re human.

But here’s the amazing thing…

Once you START moving:
Your body wakes up.
Your mind clears.
Your mood improves.
Your energy changes.

And over time… movement stops feeling like punishment.

It starts feeling like the thing that keeps you alive.

That’s why at Better Body Studios we focus on helping busy people build training into their lives consistently — because the goal isn’t just looking better.

It’s staying strong, capable, mobile and independent for as long as possible.

““Everything is better.”

That was Jo’s answer when we asked what strength training has done for her.

A couple of years ago, she was nervous about joining.

She’d never done strength training before and was worried about walking through the door.

Today?

✅ No more knee pain going upstairs
✅ The hip pain she always had has gone
✅ More energy throughout the day
✅ No longer exhausted after taking 30 teenage boys on a football tour to Holland
✅ Can get in and out of the bath with ease

The truth is, most people who join us feel nervous before their first session.

But confidence doesn’t come before you start.

But honestly?
Some of the best bits happen between the sets.

The random conversations.
The terrible jokes.
The coaches keeping everyone going.
The “you’ve got one more rep” negotiations.

And somehow solving half of life’s problems next to a kettlebell 😂

Bank Holiday.
Hot weather.
Most people would say our members are crazy for turning up to train today…

But the truth is — our bodies were designed to move.

Modern life encourages us to do the opposite.
Sit down.
Stay comfortable.
Rest more.
Move less.

And when life gets stressful, exercise is usually the first thing pushed onto the back burner.

But here’s what we see time and time again at the studio:

Once people start moving…
EVERYTHING gets better.

Energy improves.
Mood improves.
Stress levels come down.
Confidence grows.
People feel more like themselves again.

That’s why so many of our members still showed up today.
Not because they’re obsessed.
Not because it’s punishment.
But because they know how good they feel afterwards.

The hardest part is usually getting started.
But once you do, your body wakes up.

Movement isn’t just about calories or weight loss.
It’s about feeling alive.
Stronger.
Clearer.
More resilient.

And that’s exactly why training regularly changes people’s lives.
