🥋 A little glimpse of what my Ninjas get up to…

With classes starting back this week, I thought I’d share our latest video. 😊

If you know someone with a child who might enjoy Ju-Jitsu or BJJ, please feel free to share it with them.

One of my lovely parents recently wrote:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“It’s a pleasure as a parent to watch my son grow in his confidence and skillset in Ju Jitsu.”

That really sums up what I want children to get from their training - genuine martial arts skills, but also confidence, resilience, discipline and, importantly, something they genuinely enjoy doing.

And to all my returning Ninjas - looking forward to having you back on the mats! 🥋😊

Looking for martial arts in Wi******er this September? 🥋

The full Wi******er School of Martial Arts timetable returns from 2nd September, with classes for children, teens, adults and families.

I’m Jude, owner and instructor at Wi******er School of Martial Arts - and if you’re choosing a martial arts school for yourself or your child, I think one of the most important questions is:

Who will actually be teaching you?

Teaching martial arts isn’t something I fit around another career. Wi******er School of Martial Arts is my full-time profession and the focus of my working life.

I’m also a qualified former secondary school teacher, and I bring that professional teaching experience to the mats every day.

Belts, qualifications and medals can tell you what an instructor has achieved themselves. They don’t necessarily tell you how well they can teach someone else.

At WSMA, the focus isn’t on my achievements. It’s on what my students learn.

Students learn genuine martial arts skills, work with different partners, experience appropriate challenge and discover what they can achieve when they keep trying.

That’s where I believe real confidence and resilience develop.

🥋 Ju-Jitsu & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
🥋 Ages 3 to adult
🥋 Children’s, teen, adult & family training
🥋 Age-specific & mixed-age classes
🥋 Complete beginners very welcome
🥋 Optional BJJ competition pathway

VIP Trial £10 - refunded if you join.

If you’re looking for something new this September, come and see what we do at Wi******er School of Martial Arts. 😊🥋

Sunday holiday training ☀️🥋

Great fun on the mats! I love seeing the Ninjas working with students of different ages during the holiday sessions.

Different partners bring different challenges, and there was some lovely helping, encouraging and learning from one another - alongside a LOT of laughter. 😂

Well done everyone. Great training and great attitudes!

One question I’m occasionally asked is:

“Is once a week enough?”

For the vast majority of children (and adults)… absolutely.

Would someone training twice a week progress a little faster? Of course. Three times a week faster still.

But martial arts is only one part of life.

Children have swimming, football, dance, music, Cubs, birthdays, school commitments and, most importantly, family time. Adults have work, families and countless other responsibilities.

That’s why at Wi******er School of Martial Arts the standard membership starts with Bronze, based on attending once a week. If you have the time and want to train more, there are Silver (twice weekly) and Gold (three or more sessions) options.

My aim has never been to make families feel they have to train multiple times a week. I’d much rather see someone attend consistently once a week, enjoy every lesson and make steady progress than feel under pressure to attend more often than life realistically allows.

After all, martial arts is a journey, not a race. Personal progress is what matters most.

Confidence isn’t built by always getting things right.

It’s built by facing challenges, making mistakes and having the courage to keep going.

That’s something I see every week in class, and it’s why I decided to write this blog.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Another fantastic Little Ninjas class! 🥷

This week the Ninjas worked on controlled striking before moving on to our Bullies & Defenders drills, learning simple, practical ways to deal with someone who is trying to hit them.

Everything is taught in a fun, structured environment where confidence, respect and self-control are just as important as the techniques themselves.

I’m incredibly proud of how hard everyone worked and how much progress they’re making.

A look back at Tuesday’s Ninjas class… 🥋

We started the session with some controlled striking sparring, helping students develop timing, movement and accuracy in a safe, supervised environment.

The second half of the lesson focused on our Bullies & Defenders drills. The students learnt how to safely deal with someone who is trying to hit them, building practical self-defence skills alongside confidence, awareness and self-control.

At Wi******er School of Martial Arts®, I don’t just teach techniques - I help children develop confidence, resilience and practical skills that can benefit them both on and off the mats.

Well done to everyone who trained on Tuesday. You all worked hard and made great progress. 👏

🥷 Ninjas (7-12)

Success isn’t about being the most talented. It’s about being the most consistent. 🥷

Every lesson is another opportunity to learn something new, improve a technique and build confidence.

Some skills come quickly, while others take time-but those who keep turning up and giving their best always make progress.

A huge well done to all of my Ninjas for your effort and determination, especially during the recent hot weather. Keep going-you are all moving forward one lesson at a time. 👊
