Match report from today’s game just in …
A fantastic first pre-season outing for the girls against a very strong London City Lionesses side. This was exactly the test we wanted and the players delivered in every possible way.
We made the perfect start, full of energy, intensity and belief. Georgia opened the scoring with a stunning effort from distance, chipping the keeper with real composure to make it 1-0.
We doubled our lead soon after when Keira, on her debut, slotted home from a lovely through ball from Daisy to make it 2-0.
London City are an excellent side with huge depth in both numbers and quality. As the game wore on and our legs tired, they began to take control and ultimately scored 3 goals in the last 20 minutes to take the game away from us.
Even so, I couldn't be prouder of the effort, attitude and commitment from every single player. We stood up to a top team and gave a superb account of ourselves.
There's so much to build on and this performance gives us a brilliant platform as we continue our preparations for the season ahead.
