Great time getting together for a Study Group hosted by our Wimbledon branch.

A solid session reviewing techniques, sharing knowledge, and sharpening the details with a great group of dedicated Kenshi on the mats. As the saying goes, 温故知新 by revisiting what we’ve learned, we discover new understanding.

It was great to see so many kenshi at our year-end dinner this evening. I truly appreciate the efforts some of you made to maintain our friendship and support one another.

Our newly promoted shodan received their new black belts, and those who attended also received omiyage — udon from Hombu.

In addition, the kenshi prepared a surprise gift for our sensei to congratulate him on passing his 5th Dan examination at Hombu last week.

It’s been a great and very fruitful week, my special dan grading, the WSKO training camp, and some extra workouts whenever I had time.

Thank you to everyone in our dojo for all your support, and a special thanks to those who spent extra time helping me prepare. That is the true way of living: Half for one own’s happiness, half for the happiness of others.

Thank you as well to all the instructors for their teaching, and to everyone I met and trained with this week. You all made the experience even better.

I’m excited to return to the dojo and share what I learned with everyone. Training with the spirit of Ken Zen Ichinyo and Riki Ai Funi is what makes Shorinji Kempo special.

Let’s keep growing together!
