A beta version of FastChain Aesthete is in production for a Swiss customer. It's beginning to look really lovely in natural Oak with a plywood core for structural stability and strength.

In this latest iteration the seat-tube bottom bracket shell and rear chainstays are all welded and will be encapsulated within this wooden frame. We are upgrading the method for fixing the glass seat-stays in place. Check back soon to see the finished product.

We have been working hard on a new product. It's for people who do Indoor Cycling but don't appreciate having an ugly training bike in their home. We call it FastChain Aesthete. It's a dedicated training frame, made out of natural materials. This is the prototype version we created to check form and fit and we are currently producing a beta version out of plywood and Oak for a Swiss client.

More to follow shortly.

FastChain for drip on wax chain aficionados

We know many cyclists have very particular preferences when it comes to bike chain lubrication. No matter your preference FastChain has you covered.

Wether you apply wax-l**e with the chain on the bike or you are super committed and remove your chain, sonic-clean, and apply molten speed wax in a slow cooker, FastChain has lots to offer.

A note on the use of GT85.

Yes we are aware "traditionally" GT85 is considered too light to use as a chain l**e and all competent mechanics will tell you that. However we have conducted significant testing and it has become clear it becomes viable when used with FastChain.

This is why:

The reason thicker l**es are traditionally used is because applying l**e to a dirty chain is to be avoided. Having to clean the chain before applying lubricant involves a bit of a process. So therefore the lubricant has to be viscous enough to last a a period of time that suits a convenient maintenace interval.

FastChain is convenient enough to allow very high frequency re-lubrication. So with FastChain, it becomes convenient to use lower viscosity l**es - but they have to be used frequently. Lower viscosity l**es *have better performance* because they generate less drag between the pin, rollers and side plate surfaces.

Not convinced? Well you can always use FastChain with your preferred aerosol lubricant. GT85 is not mandatory.

We will shortly be publishing a series of articles on the FastChain.biz website covering chain lubrication strategies and the relative performance obtained.

For those who prefer molten wax lubrication (and we know some cyclists who don't mind removing the bike chain, will not move from that approach), FastChain still has much to offer.

As you will be aware, though a molten wax strategy is highly durable, one or two wet rides can introduced an unwelcome degree of contamination. "But oil and wax don't mix" I hear you say. Absolutely. But FastChain still provides a solution. Use a can of Solvent like TF90 to clean the grime and grit from between the links of a waxed chain, then use a can of aerosol wax lubricant to top-up; such as Muc-Off aerosol dry (wax) lubricant. This top up can extend the time before you have to do another chain removal, wax bath, and refitting cycle and also can recover a waxed chain exposed to nasty wet conditions.

We have been working on FastChain for many months and along the way have developed a number of bike related parts that can be easily produced by Makers with 3D printers and/or CNC machines.

Updates will be made in the Makers for Cycling Group here on FaceBook and can be found on this page of our website:

https://fastchain.biz/makers/

Makes currently available include:

- Rear seat water guard "tongue"
- An easy phone holder for turbo trainers / smart trainers - suits multiple sizes because there is no need for the phone to clip in
- An under water bottle mount for iTags
- A replica of the Shimano crank tool for if you need to remove Shimano crank arms
- Carbon aero seat-post clamp

Coming soon:

- A Carbon Frame Protector Sleeve for Thule Car Roof Rack Bike holders (normally Carbon Frames can't be fitted, but should be fine if the clamping load is spread over a large area)
- Trainer bike sweat chain guard
- Rear deraileur hanger straightener

FastChain is a product for deep cleaning and lubricating your bicycle chain all at once and will be coming to market early in the New Year. It is quick and easy to use and provides what is probably the easiest and least costly way to increase speed and save watts when cycling.
