It’s a personal thing, what is motivation and how do you keep it. If it was a simple answer the obvious fixes would work for everyone. In the eventuality they don’t here’s some other ways to look at the problem. -USE YOUR MOTIVATION TO BUILD PROCESSES NOT EXPECTATIONs- Motivation, stimulus or inspiration however you characterise it, it’s temporary. It will end and you can easily be left with a spent call to action and an unreached goal, without the momentum to get going again. -FIND YOUR WHY-
The realisation you need or want to train could be the culmination of a lot of different factors. It may not be fixed by setting one goal or outcome, and the more jobs you try to do with the same tool the sloppier the work. -APPRECIATE THE DIFFICULTY- This sounds rough, and some are better suited to it than others. But if what you want is worth having don’t expect it to come easy. Client’s have come to me because they haven’t seen progress, but without sufficient overload there will be no progress. Sometimes things getting hard can reinforce the fact you are on the right path.

MEET THE TRAINER- Having spent the first half of my life as a dancer, I learnt very early on, the importance of pain free movement and a healthy mind. Helping others to achieve this same balance has transitioned into my career as a personal trainer. When done correctly, fitness enhances your lifestyle, mental health and overall happiness. Aiding both physical and mental strength is the foundation of my programming. Results are achieved through effective movement & goal-specific training.

WHAT IS A SMALL THING? Maybe its train strikes cutting into your session time by 15 minutes. Maybe its the line for the squat rack looking like a new iPhone launch (PLUG-that never happens at Bar None, you always get a rack. Just saying!). Either way, whether its gym, diet or sleep pattern, its very easy to take a small inconvenience and use it to procrastinate or worse, still not start. We do this because it still makes us feel proactive in the face of taking a bath on a potentially challenging thing we wanted to do. There will always be something in the way, a reason you don’t start a new sleep routine or environmental challenge that made one more day of an old diet seem valid. If the game is consistency, then a gradual and scalable improvement is where to start, and that small start towards a big change is better then waiting for conditions to be “perfect”.

And what says thank you more then free STASH!!! Free hoodie for you regulars. One thing that has been very humbling is all of your enthusiasm in representing the gym and it’s brand. I made branded clothing so I had something to wear whilst training you and now there is a small army of people walking around in Bar None hoodies, t shirts and leggings.

A GREAT YEAR! The studio has been busy, it has rolled with some punches and thrown some back.But most importantly it has remained an effective, fun, engaging place for people to test themselves and interact with their environments better. A massive thank you to the clients, neighbours and friends that make our gym work, you have all been part of an encouraging and enjoyable year. Bar None has developed and adapted to better serve yourselves and anyone that needs this little gym in the future, and that’s down to the attitude and graft you all bring. The type of diet you make a part of your lifestyle/identity can appeal to you for many different reasons. Medical , social, behavioural even philosophical but if your purely trying to improve how you feel and your relationship with food you need only get closer to it. Don’t smash down s% food made in huge quantities using unattractive methods and moan you’re not progressing. Equally don’t expect a label change to fix your relationship with food when you treat its preparation like a smelly relative you rarely visit. Over a decade working, different diets have come and gone for me and my clients and the key contributing factors to the successful ones were - making the food prep a priority and as much as possible, making it personally - knowing how many calories you need to achieve what you want, and understanding the macronutrient proportions to optimise the intake.
