💫 PRESENTATION EVENING 💫

Now the 2026 season has come to close we’d like to remind all players, coaches and parents about our presentation evening which is penned in the dairy for Friday 18th September at Wigton Sports & Fitness - Clubhouse with the doors opening at 7pm.

With a stellar season and even a new team to add to the running order this years iteration is intended to be refreshing change from what people have got used to with more awards, interactive games and the return of the well-loved raffle.

All of our senior, women’s and junior teams will have their awards on the same evening so it promises to be a busy one so make sure you get there in plenty of time with Chairman Murdock planned to open proceedings at 7.30pm.

🏆 WOMENS TEAM ARE CHAMPIONS 🏆

A huge congratulations goes to our Women’s Team who end the day as Cumbria Softball Finals Day champions beating Keswick Women in the final!

An unbelievable achievement in their first ever competitive season of cricket with some amazing cricket on show all day by every team involved up at Lowmoor Road.

After bowling first just like in their semi-final Keswick set them a total of 267 to win. Following some advice from batting coach Shubman Bill it was clear they had learnt some lessons from their semi-final. Our opening pairs set a platform for the bigger hitters down the order and it was Imogen Murdock who stole the show with an explosive 34, earning her the Player of The Game trophy for the Wildcats in the final. Her innings got our women into a commanding position above Keswicks total allowing our final pair to see us home which couldn’t have been more fitting, as Captain Ball got to see her ladies home out in the middle once again.

Massive thank-you has to go to all the volunteers that helped throughout the day serving food, manning the kitchen, umpiring and scoring but it’s safe to say all glory goes to the players and coaches. An incredible day for the club topped off by the ladies bringing home the trophy is something of a fairytale ending shall we say and great advert for women’s cricket all around.

Unfortunately, that brings the curtain down on the 2026 season but if any girls or women are interested in trying their hands at cricket then please get down and have some fun when the season comes around next year.

💯 WILDCATS INTO FINAL 💯

Wigton’s women have made into the final of the softball league finals day after a nail biter of a semi-final victory over Barrow.

Chasing 257 to win skipper Ball hammered a 6 on the second to last ball taking her team to 258 putting them in a winning position and, after safely seeing off the last ball with a clip off her legs for a single the game was done.

The ladies will be playing Keswick in the final with the game set to start imminently so get yourselves up to the club to watch the game.

Loaded hotdogs & nachos, refreshments and cakes are all on sale and sure to be a good partner to watch out ladies try and bring the trophy home to Lowmoor Road.

🏆 FINALS DAY LINEUP 🏆

Below is how our Womens XI lineup in their finals day today with their first game being the semi-final against Barrow CC.

Get down and support the ladies in their big to become champions. Bar will be open and food being served throughout the day. Currently weather doesn’t look the best but it is meant to fair up as the day progresses so we’ll certainly get the games in and have some fun.

Good luck to the girls and let’s hope you allow the silverware to stay up at Lowmoor Road!

🏆 WOMENS FINALS DAY 🏆

Tomorrow Wigton CC will host the women’s softball cricket cup finals day where our own women’s team will be competing with 3 other clubs to bring the trophy home!

It promises to be a great day with food in the form of loaded hot dogs & nachos, events and raffles with a lot of the raffle prizes being donated by women-led Cumbrian businesses and of course, our women’s XI fighting to bring home their first trophy in their first ever season.

Action will start up at the club at 11am with 2 semi final games on at the same time followed by the two winning teams competing in a final at 2pm.

SF1 - Wigton v Barrow
SF2 - Keswick v Sedgewick

Please get down and support our ladies in their bid to become champions as they throughly deserve it after a stellar first season.

Lineup to be announced later this evening so keep an eye out!

🌟 PRESENTATION EVENING 🌟

With the cricket season soon to be drawing to a close we’d like to announce our end-of-season Awards Night is organised for Friday 18th September @ 19.00pm.

Similar to last season both the junior and senior teams will have a joint awards ceremony but this year the committee has big plans to make it the most entertaining and enjoyable one in recent memory.

Get the date penned in your diary and we’ll see you at the club to celebrate the 2026 season!

Below is how all 3 of our teams lineup for the coming weekend with the 1st XI being the only ones having to leave the familiar surroundings of Lowmoor Road to hopefully try and continue their rich vein of form.
