π Match Report πβ¨
A tough first game back for the team, finishing with a 26β9 loss against a very well-drilled opposition. After a six-week break, it took us a little time to find our match rhythm again, but there were still plenty of positives to take from the performance. πͺπ
Despite a physical game with plenty of contact, the girls kept competing, stayed determined and worked hard right through to the final whistle. ππ₯
π Through court, we saw some lovely passages of play, with good movement, strong leads and some well-timed feeds into the shooting circle. When we looked after possession, created space and moved the ball with purpose, we showed exactly what weβre capable of. β¨
π‘οΈ Defensively, there was some fantastic pressure across court, with players contesting passes, putting pressure over the ball and working hard to create turnovers. Our defensive foundations are definitely there β now itβs about building our match fitness and sharpness back up over the coming weeks. πͺβ‘οΈ
At training, weβll continue to focus on fitness, ball placement, timing of leads and creating better spacing across court. After six weeks away, weβre still working our way back to the level we reached last season β but we know what this team can do, and weβll get there again! ππ
Lots to learn, plenty to work on and, most importantly, lots of positives to build from. Keep working hard, supporting each other, communicating on court and trusting the process. ππ
Weβve got this! πͺπβ¨
π Player of the Match: Jennifer
Fantastic defensive pressure in the circle throughout the game, constantly challenging her opponent, contesting the ball and making the shooters work for every opportunity. Brilliant effort! π‘οΈπ₯
β Coachβs Player of the Match: Nancy
Adaptable as ever, stepping into numerous positions and giving everything wherever she was needed. She worked tirelessly, hunted for interceptions and kept applying pressure throughout. A brilliant all-round performance! ππ
