HFH REDS v LEIGH EAST

Hornets are at Wilmere again this Sunday as they host Leigh East in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter, following their dramatic cup clash earlier this season.

On that occasion, Hornets edged victory at the death in a thrilling contest, and they will be aiming to repeat that success. Confidence is high in the Hornets camp after an outstanding performance last week against Division One heavyweights Thatto Heath, a result that showcased both their resilience and attacking quality.

Sitting at the top of the table, Hornets are determined to maintain their strong position. However, they are under no illusions about the challenge ahead. Leigh East will arrive motivated and seeking revenge after their narrow cup defeat, making this fixture anything but straightforward.

THATTO HEATH CRUSADERS 24

Hornets produced a gallant display against an all conquering Thatto Heath side, eventually falling 24–10 but giving a tremendous account of themselves.

Despite some outstanding try-line defence across multiple sets, Hornets found themselves under sustained pressure in the first half, with Thatto racing into an 0-18 lead by the break.

HT 0-18

To their credit, Hornets refused to let the deficit dent their confidence. They came out strongly in the second half, with Theo B and Kian I-P both crossing the whitewash to close the gap and shift momentum back in their favour.

Hornets thought they had secured a third try when Kian I-P went over again, but it was harshly ruled out for a forward pass, one of several contentious decisions from the official that unfortunately took some shine off an otherwise excellent contest.

Thatto added a late try in the corner to put the result beyond doubt, but the final scoreline doesn’t fully reflect the effort and determination shown by Hornets throughout.

FT 10-24

There is plenty for the team to be proud of. While the unbeaten record may have gone, confidence remains high, and this performance will only strengthen belief going forward!

HFH REDS v THATTO HEATH CRUSADERS

Due to a late cancellation from Woolston Greens, Hornets will now welcome Thatto Heath Crusaders to Wilmere on Sunday in what promises to be a tough but exciting test.

Hornets will put their unbeaten record on the line against a formidable St Helens outfit, widely regarded as one of, if not the strongest, teams in the North West. The visitors arrive with a fierce reputation and will no doubt provide a serious challenge.

Despite carrying the underdog tag, Hornets have every reason to be confident. Recent performances have shown their resilience, intensity, and ability to compete at a high level. If they can bring that same energy and commitment into Sunday’s clash, they’ll be more than capable of pushing Thatto all the way.

With pride, momentum, and an unbeaten run at stake, all signs point to a fiercely contested encounter at Wilmere. So come on down, show your support and make some noise for the boys!
