Further to our recent announcement, on behalf of the Galacticos we wish to say the following..

With the long lay off, many priorities have changed and some of our players have stepped away to concentrate on other things or moved away to other countries, with this, we felt the time was right to call it a day.

It’s been an absolute pleasure, we’ve had a few ups and downs but more ups and certainly some incredible ups over the years..

From 2005 it was our clubs goal to set up a super team that would go on to be the most successful Widnes and District team in over 100 years and we did just that. The Galacticos achieved some incredible feats over the years.. the greatest - winning the Interleague Town Team championship in Southport with our own club team.. something never done before! With a bus full of players and supporters, our pub team beat Widnes, Garston A and B, The Wirral, Prescot along the way. Crazy.

With this we really put our towns league on the map, if you spoke with anyone out of town they knew us, for good or bad they knew of us.. they knew of the Widnes league...

We would like to thank John Twist and Peter Corns among many others, Twisty gave us a chance from previous regimes and made it a fair playing field which allowed us to compete to win and Peter was the pantomime villain but always gave us a fair shake!! We gave him many a headache but there was never any ill will and really enjoyed playing for the league he overseen, Peter has done and will do a fantastic job going forward we’re sure.

Someone else can take the mantle now. You’ve got big boots to fill.
