Group 2 and - set off from Pegswood and later merged with…

Group 2.5 - set off from the Widdy community centre on a fabulous 52 mile route over to Capheaton. The tea rooms was aglow with orange and pink wheelers, all mingling together. A sight to behold when you can get multiple groups able to meet up at a cafe big enough to hold us all!

Group 3 - departed from Widdy community centre to Capheaton on a 62 mile route to meet everyone at the tea rooms.
Nice to have the wind blowing everyone home after a brutal head wind on the way out! πŸ’¨

Group 4 - departed from Widdy community centre to Capheaton on a 62 mile route to meet everyone at the tea rooms at a much faster pace. It’s great to be able to offer a wide range of group speeds and distances for all to enjoy!

πŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸš΄Monday seen a group of 13 wheelers head off for a stunning 29 mile spin up to through Guyzance, Warkworth to amble stopping at The lookout cafe in Hauxley nature reserve.

πŸš΄πŸš΄β€β™€οΈWednesday daytime wheelers saw a group of 8 wheelers head out for a gorgeous 23 mile ride to Newbiggin stopping at Bertorelli’s for a cuppa and scones.

πŸŒ… Wednesday evening saw the fourth evening club ride when a brilliant group of 16 wheelers came out for a ~20 mile local spin around departing from the Widdy Inn at 6.30. We had a chain gang group 3/4 group who set off for a training lap and a group of 12 riders who set off for a group ride and began chain gang training led expertly by ride leaders Darren and Mark. So lovely to see the encouragement and support given to all members in every ride. πŸ₯°

Wheelers’ Weekly roundup!

🌞 🚲 πŸ₯³
What a weekend for cycling in the North East πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸ”₯
As our founder Mark was the named organiser we are incredibly proud that, with the support of Muckle CC, Reifen Racing and NE1 Performance, we helped bring regional road racing back to the North East with a bang.
A few wheelers rode over to Kirkley to watch the road race and cheer on our race team of: Morgan, Isaac, Mark B, Oz and Russ who all did the club and themselves proud in an unbelievably strong race.

To see full fields, strong racing, brilliant support from volunteers and clubs coming together for the good of the sport was genuinely special. It just shows what can be achieved when people are passionate about rebuilding grassroots cycling in the region.
A huge thank you to every rider, marshal, volunteer, driver, commissaire and supporter who helped make it happen from our club. The day wouldn’t have happened without you all and your support.

Please give the page a follow for future updates and events πŸ‘‰ [NE Road Race Series]
The North East road racing scene is alive again πŸ’™πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

A few wheelers set off for solo rides over the last week too, keeping the cafes going while many wheelers were supporting/riding/helping with the road race!

One to raise particular attention to was member Gillian, who completed (for the 2nd time!) the Genoa shipping ride 2026! What an achievement! πŸŽ‰

πŸš΄πŸš΄β€β™€οΈOn Monday, two groups of daytime drifters ventured out on a 32 mile loop stopping at The Old School Gallery, Alnmouth. The weather was absolutely stunning and was certainly perfect beer garden weather when we got back to base! 🌞

Wednesday evening saw the first evening club ride of 2026 which saw 16 wheelers come out for a local loop around Widdrington βœ…

Wheelers’ Weekly roundup!

We were so lucky with the weather this Saturday for our club rides 🌞

Group 1 set off from Pegswood for a 23 mile loop stopping at The Drift cafe for some well earned refreshments. A lovely ride with a great bunch of people. We welcomed a new rider Phillipa with us too who has just joined the club! ☺️✨

Group 2 set off from the Widdy Inn heading on a 35 (ish! 🀣🀭) mile loop stopping at Ethos in Amble for some delicious goodies! When the garmin played up, the group 2 amigos made their own route and had good craic in doing so!

Group 2.5 started from Morrison’s in Amble and as part of training for an upcoming event, this group pushed their mileage today and smashed a 55 mile loop pausing at The Courtyard cafe, Beadnell for some gorgeous baked goods. Great ride with a mint bunch ✨

Group 3 and 4 set off from Cresswell for a 55 mile loop stopping at Kirkley Hall cafe. A cracking big group which split off into two on the way home. This route was a good recce of the Road Race this weekend for some of our representatives from the club 🀫 Two new riders joined us, Oz and Russ. So great to see the club naturally growing with 4 new members this week βœ¨πŸ‘πŸ»

πŸ•Ί Dancing Dave embarked on the Gralloch gravel sportive smashing a cracking time topped off with stunning views and a haggis and pepperoni pizza on return back! Top job Dave πŸ• 🚴 πŸ‘πŸ»

πŸš΄πŸš΄β€β™€οΈOn Monday, a few daytime drifters ventured out to Swarland on a 23 mile loop stopping off at one of our stalwart cafes, Nelson’s.
