Time to right some wrongs after last weeks fixture! But its a new week and we go into this game with a positive and determined attitude as we search for our first points of the season

Currently Royal Oak sit mid table and they'll feel they have somet to prove as well to the league so should be an interesting game, please get up to support the lads if you can 💛🤍

Puncheon Inn FC Vs Sun Inn FC

Our second game of our 5 home games in a row this month, this time sees us take on a very respectable side so we will need to be sharp but we we've put a very capable side out today and a group of lads who are very hungry for some first league points!

Today we welcome The Sun Inn from Aspatria who come into the game of the back of a 3rd place finish last season and most recently a 7-2 victory in their last game so should be a good challenge and one we are certainly up for 🫡

For anyone attending the game today please bring some change if you can as we are collecting for the amazing No Rainbows Without Rain - SSC today who fight poverty and starvation in Cumbria

MATCH REPORT:

Puncheon Inn FC 2-7 Workington Falcons FC - despite the scoreline not looking great we felt this performance was an improvement from last weeks fixture away at Falcons, we opened up the stronger side creating more chances and we thought we'd scored the opening goal of the game before it was disallowed for offside, both teams battled it out in awful conditions and both held out well as we threw chances at each other until Workington Falcons scored the opening goal from a well finished cross, heads went down and we never really responded to this and we went into half time 4-0 down

Things picked up in the second half though and we went into the half looking a completely different side, we created plenty of chances in this time but just couldn't finish them off, despite the positive start Falcons eventually added to there tally with about 20 minutes left and then soon found another goal from a corner. Things did eventually pick up for us but it was to little to late, Joshua Finley hit the bar and luckily Jayden Blair was there to finish the rebound off for his first goal of the season, and not long after Joshua Finley wasn't to be denied by the frame of the goal this time as he earned his name on the scoresheet to make it 6-2, we finished the game strongly but another sloppy goal led the game to a full time result of Puncheon Inn FC 2-7 Workington Falcons

CHARITY PARTNERSHIP:

Was great to meet up with Patrick and a few other volunteers from the amazing No Rainbows Without Rain - SSC the other day, as you all know this Sunday we have organised a charity match in aid of NRWR for our league fixture against the Sun Inn

No Rainbows Without Rain fight against poverty and starvation in Cumbria and are also very well known for their Secret Santa project in which they make sure no child or pensioner goes without at Christmas

If you are interested in donating then pop into the pub as we have left a donation bucket on the bar or keep an eye out for some of us around town on Tuesday/Wednesday when we go out collecting

We still have some match sponsorship opportunities available, all funds go to the charity so if you can support then please get involved and message the page 💛🤍

CHARITY MATCH SPONSORSHIP:

Incase you missed it Puncheon Inn FC are hosting a charity match for the amazing No Rainbows Without Rain - SSC during our league fixture against the Sun Inn FC

We are looking for our usual match sponsorships but are donating all sponsors to the charity so if anyone can support in any way then please get involved!

No Rainbows Without Rain are a Workington based charity but provide a service to a much wider community of Cumbria fighting against poverty and hunger, there volunteers put in a lot to make this happen and are doing a great job so we couldn't think of a much better charity to start off with 💛🤍

We will also have a collection bucket in the pub and be running fundraiser scratchcards for cheaper donation options

Joint Match Report:

Kings arms 5-1 Puncheon Inn FC:
This game was again a case of two different halves impacting the result, we were just that bit to slow to get into the game in the first half which has been an issue for us so far this season and of which King's Arms eventually took advantage of scoring 5 past us in the first half with 3 coming from poorly defended set pieces,

we were our own worst enemy at times for this game but a change of tactics and a team talk at half time changed things for us, we were fired up and looked a completely different side getting a goal back and really could've got more as we came out unlucky at times with some of our chances as well as not conceding in the second half, but once the damage was done that was it, we of course we're never going to come back from 5 goals down but the second half showed our real capability and gave us some great insight to take with us in the future.

Workington Falcons 6-0 Puncheon Inn FC
After Sunday's defeat we took a lot into this fixture and started off really positively getting a break and shot off within the first minute of the game, we were in control for a good bit of the first 20 minutes but it started going wrong after a free kick found the back of the net for Falcons which had them fired up as they went on to go 3-0 at half time which was unlucky really as the second goal was a penalty and the 3rd was a brilliant save from Will Hetherington but just landed directly to a Falcons player for a tap in.

As for the second half if we were being fully honest our heads dipped a bit with the scoreline and we just struggled a bit for confidence which showed in falcons earning a quick fourth and fifth goal, we felt we were denied a couple of stone wall penalties in-between and also created some great chances of our own but it just wasn't meant to be today and Falcons eventually got their 6th and final goal of the night to end things 6-0.

LEAGUE CHARITY MATCH:

We are proud to announce that our league fixture at home to Sun Inn on the 6th September will be our first charity day of the season!

Our first chosen charity is the amazing No Rainbows Without Rain - SSC who are based in Workington but provide a service to a much wider community fighting against poverty for the whole of Cumbria, please give there page a follow and check out the amazing work that they do 💜🌈

We will be running collections and fundraiser scratchcards in the pub and on our social media pages so keep an eye out and please help support this amazing cause if you can!

We will also be looking for our usual match sponsorships for the fixture of which all proceeds and sponsorship money will be donated to the Charity so keep a look out for those details as well! 💛🤍
