Is this for real 😦

A lot of the problems I am experiencing in my work are to do with many children experiencing the issues stated on this post. To find out how you can help your child overcome these problems come and see me at either of these talks to find out useful tips/meet other parents and get some information and support around what you are dealing with.
Hope to see you there, many thanks Lisa x

With research showing that modern technology and particularly smart phones are having more damage on our young people’s brain development than we could ever possibly imagine, I 100 % recommend all parents watch this. A difficult watch at times but the findings in this show are invaluable. Those of you who’s children don’t yet have a smartphone consider very strongly at what age you give your child one and for those of you who’s children already have one and have concerns about their children’s use of one, knowledge is power, find out all you can to keep your children safe on them. Anyone who has any concerns after watching this please don’t hesitate to contact me for a free discussion. Message first in 07720708387 to arrange a convenient time. Lisa 💕

Channel 4 has commissioned Swiped: The School that Banned Smartphones, a landmark two-part documentary series, produced by BOLDPRINT Studios, which will tackle the timely issue of the impact of smartphones on children’s behaviour with a pioneering social experiment.

I’m so excited to start these workshops at the Dry Dock today 😁

🙌 If you have a child between 16-20 who is struggling with, depression, anxiety or no direction, this is definitely a course and workshops you’ll want them to attend!

😃 These sessions spread over 5 weeks will be fun and informal, in a relaxed setting not a formal classroom. As an incentive to stay committed, at the end of the 5 weeks there is an opportunity to receive a £25 gift voucher from a place of the young persons choice if all sessions have been attended. These sessions have been developed to meet any needs the young person may have. Breaks every 30 mins last session 20 mins. Starts at 345pm ends 615pm. Drinks and snacks free, fidget toys, ear defenders, doodle pads and colouring available. Every individual will be recognised for a specific contribution each week and rewarded with £5 towards a gift voucher of their choice if homework is done and session attended £25 can be earned by the end of the course. They are set up as follows:

📅 The course will be 5 sessions, every Tuesday afternoon, beginning Tuesday 5th November 2024 at Dry Dock, 6-7 St Thomas Street, Weymouth DT4 8EW.

🕑 Each session will be 2 1/2 hrs, The groups will be small, no more than 6 young people.

💶 The cost is £25 per session £125.00 in total. 1 space is available at £5 per session for a young person who is in a situation where the cost of this course is unachievable. To be considered for this place I will need a detailed explanation as to why.

SESSION TITLES

➡️ Week 1 - Where am I now?

We explore how your days are spent, what you do with your spare time, what your interests are and how you generally feel about the the position you are in right now. Then we look into how we have got to where we are now, beginning to understand our brains make up and how this impacts on our day to day lives. I also encourage you to begin to think about what and where you would like to be.

➡️ Week 2 - Who am I now?

We explore who you are now, explore Self Esteem, discuss how this impacts on our day to day lives. Discuss how who you are is connected to where you are and examine areas you may want to work on to increase confidence and Self-Esteem or just to move a little more towards what you think you may like to do in the future.

➡️ Week 3 - Who and where do I want to be?

We look at the things that really make you happy and how often they appear in your life, as well as the things that make you unhappy. Explain how important it is for us to have the thigs we love and value in our everyday lives, as they help us to establish a sense of calm and well being. This is where we really to start to get an idea of what we really want to be doing with our lives and a sense of direction becomes clearer.

➡️ Week 4 - How do I get there?

We look at what small steps you can take to move yourself more towards what you would like to be doing and who you would like to be, this is all based on areas we have worked on in the last 3 weeks.

➡️ Week 5 - Reflection, How are things going?

Look back at what you have learnt, any progression forward you have made, how you are feeling about yourself and where you are now. Also what you need to continue to do to make sure this progression continues. Vouchers awarded.

IF YOU MISS A SESSION
Catch up sessions can be arranged if attendees miss a session, or join halfway through the course, so that nobody is left behind.

It’s important to remember there are no right or wrong answers to any of the areas we cover, this is all about you for you. You will not be asked to speak or share information during the session unless you want to and if there are any concerns or things you want to discuss before hand you are more than welcome to contact the facilitator Lisa Wrightson (see below for contact details)

⚠️ INFORMATION on Course Facilitator Lisa Wrightson

"During my work as a child and parent Coach and Mentor and a Youth Worker in 2 local Youth Clubs. I come across so many teenagers within this age bracket that just seem lost, some don’t have many friends or too many friends and just seem to have a real lack of direction or routine in their lives and aren’t too sure how to go about resolving this.

As a Coach and Mentor my job;

* as a Coach is to work with people in a safe space, help you to explore any di culties you may be facing with a non-judgmental yet inquisitive form of questioning. This allows the individual to come up with solutions they may not of considered before, which empowers them to carry out actions, make decisions and become more assertive to challenges they may be facing. The way in which Coaching works is powerful and changes your perception of what at times can seem impossible situations.

* as a Mentor is to share my skills/knowledge and experience in order to help another develop and grow".
