A new book is being released soon which takes an in-depth look at the fighting strategies of Tai (Flycatcher) and Tuo (Crocodile) Xings. These are advanced animals which are learnt within Xing Yi and can be combined to produce a very robust strategy.

The book covers the history, fighting methods and auxiliary concepts/methods which are rarely presented in books on Xing Yi. With over 500 colour photo's showing
both the applications and potential linking sequences for both Tai and Tuo Xing, this is a must read for any serious practitioner of the art.

Xing Yi Quan, or ‘Character Intention Boxing’ is the oldest of all of the known internal martial arts that are still in existence today, with an authentic and traceable lineage.

Its techniques and strategies were developed and polished on the battlefields of China during the feudal era of the Sung Dynasty (960-1279). Xing Yi technique is well known to have descended from the very famous and legendary armies of Marshal Yue Fei whose army never lost in battle.

Based on the application of spear technique, Xing Yi has a no-nonsense reputation for its effective and devastating results in combat. This comes from a strong mind set, coupled with straight to the point applications, where every technique applied is carried out for a swift conclusion.

The Somerset CMAA are a friendly and approachable group who are looking to get a regular Xing Yi class practicing together in Weston-s-Mare and the surrounding area.

Xing Yi is the elder brother of the great internal martial arts of China. Xing Yi’s unusual combination of almost infinite subtlety with robust, continuous power has inspired many generations of martial artists, soldiers and scholars alike.

Xing Yi is beautiful in the same way that the ocean is beautiful – not flashy, but possessing an unadorned elegant unity, endless variety and extraordinary depth.

We have an exceptionally complete Xing Yi curriculum, which is a combination of three different traditions. All three traditions are descended by one route or another from Master Guo Yun Shen.
