⭐ Players of the Match ⭐

Another week, another step forward for Rangers. 💙🤍

Despite the result yesterday, the improvements across the team were clear to see once again, and we were unfortunate not to come away with at least a point.

But now it’s time to celebrate two players who stood out with fantastic individual performances! 👏

🏆 Players’ Player of the Game – Bethany Bateman

This week’s Players’ Player goes to Bethany Bateman, who put in a standout performance in the centre of the pitch.

Playing in a position she isn’t normally used to, Beth looked completely at home in the middle of the park. She controlled the game at times, worked tirelessly and played a huge part in driving Rangers forward.

She capped off an excellent performance with an assist too. A thoroughly deserved award! 👏

🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Game – Caitlin Partridge

The Coaches’ Player of the Game goes to Caitlin Partridge, who led the line brilliantly yesterday.

Caitlin worked tirelessly throughout the game, linked up particularly well with Beth and capped off her performance with a well-worked goal. ⚽

On another day, Caitlin could have added to her tally, but her overall contribution was clear to see and she caused plenty of problems for the opposition defence.

👏 Congratulations to Beth and Caitlin — two fantastic performances and thoroughly deserved awards!

🔵⚪ FULL TIME

Worle Rangers 2–3 Portishead Town Development

A frustrating afternoon for Rangers as we let a two-goal lead slip away, conceding three goals in the final nine minutes to see Portishead take all three points.

Rangers started brightly and were rewarded when Sellers opened the scoring with a fantastic strike from outside the box, with Partridge providing the assist.

The lead was taken into the break, and Rangers came out fighting in the second half.

It was Partridge who doubled our advantage with a brilliant individual finish, rounding the goalkeeper before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner after being played through by Bateman.

With Rangers holding a 2–0 lead, Portishead changed shape and began to pile on the pressure. Unfortunately, we couldn’t withstand the late onslaught, with three goals in the final nine minutes turning the game around and leaving Rangers empty-handed.

A much-improved performance for the majority of the game, but ultimately it’s another tough lesson for this Rangers side.

There are plenty of positives to take from the first 80 minutes. Now it’s about learning from the final 10, dusting ourselves down and continuing to improve.

Thank you Dave!

A NEW CHAPTER FOR WORLE RANGERS FC

After 17 seasons, 12 of which at the helm of Worle Rangers FC, our Chairman and founder, Dave, has decided to step down from his role at the end of last season and pass the torch to our very own Martin Brown.

“After 17 years, it’s time for me to take a step back. We couldn’t have achieved what we have without the support of all of our committee members along the way, and with Merv taking the helm after being one of them for so long alongside me, I can’t think of a better time to do it” quotes Dave when asked about his reasons.

As he now steps away from the Chairmanship, we want to say one very simple thing:

Thank you, Dave.

Thank you for creating Worle Rangers.

Thank you for keeping it going.

Thank you for giving so many players the opportunity to play football.

And thank you for helping build a club that can now look towards its next chapter with genuine optimism.

As we've kicked off our third season in the Somerset County Women's Football League, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the people and businesses who have helped us get here.

We simply couldn't have done what we've achieved over the last few seasons without the support of our sponsors, and none more so than our Principal Sponsor, The Boathouse.

When we formed, we knew we wanted to do things properly... and amongst other things that meant a proper home and away kit for our players, not just a hand me down from our mens teams. But doing things properly takes investment.

Alongside Aardvark AVO, and Chris Murray construction who contributed massively to our set up, The Boathouse & Giulio’s Gelato gave us the ability to achieve that goal, and have been proudly displayed on our Home Kit since 2024.

⭐ Players of the Match ⭐

Once again, despite the result yesterday, the improvement across the whole squad was clear to see. Every player worked incredibly hard for the full 90 minutes and, more importantly, continued to support and encourage each other right until the final whistle. 💙🤍

A big shoutout to Rhian Hancock, who made her league debut yesterday. Rhian put in a fantastic shift and showed plenty to suggest she could be a real rock for us throughout the season. 👏

🏆 Players’ Player of the Game – Vicki Sellers

This week’s Players’ Player goes to Vicki Sellers, who stepped up at the last minute and went in goal due to illness.

Despite not being a goalkeeper, Vicki produced an impressive performance between the sticks, making several important saves — including tipping one effort onto the crossbar and another onto the post. 🧤

This week we also had a Sponsors’ Player of the Game, with the award going to Leah Perry on her final outing before heading off to university.

Leah was at the heart of the Rangers defence throughout the game, making some crucial clearances and doing everything she could to keep the score down. She also showed her composure on the ball, looking to play out from the back whenever possible.

🔵⚪ FULL TIME

Hengrove Athletic Ladies 7–0 Worle Rangers Ladies

A tough afternoon for Rangers as an injury- and illness-depleted squad came up against a strong Hengrove Athletic side.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the team battled right until the final whistle and never let their heads drop.

Hengrove took a 2–0 lead into half-time, with Rangers struggling to create clear opportunities and failing to properly test the Hengrove goalkeeper in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half was a much-improved performance. Rangers started to create more, putting the Hengrove defence and goalkeeper under pressure on a couple of occasions, but unfortunately we couldn’t find the goal our efforts deserved.

Hengrove’s ability to freshen things up from the bench, combined with some quality finishing, ultimately proved the difference as they added five more goals after the break.

The scoreline may not show it, but there were positives to take from today and signs of improvement from last week.

We’ll take those positives, learn from the challenges and get back to work.
