Preston Nomads

Preston Nomads Preston Nomads Cricket Club was a founder member of the Sussex Cricket League in 1971, with the 1st XI winning the Championship in the League's inaugural year.

We now have four teams competing in the SCL, spread through from Premiership to Division 7. Preston Nomads Cricket Club is a cricket club based in the village of Fulking in West Sussex, England. Founded in 1927, the club plays in the Sussex Cricket League and currently has four Saturday teams playing from Premiership level down to Division 7. It also has a very successful and thriving junior section of many age groups, along with a growing ladies team playing both soft and hard ball cricket.

Weekend Results | Availability was really down this week and it was also fair to say, that the results were not quite representative of how well we played.

The 1st XI hit their stride early on and were the highlight team of the weekend. However it was brilliant to see two more U13 junior debutants, taking to the field and showing confidence at a decent adult level of cricket.

We must also thank those experienced campaigners. Who can't quite bear the thought of hanging up their boots for the last time and put their hands up, at a time of need. Class never fades, thank you 👍

Rainy Day Catch Up | With a weekend washout across the Sussex League fixtures, we’re looking back to last weekend for our ‘Team of the Week’ and there were some real stellar performances. Congratulations to those who made it this week.

2026 overseas, Nick Greenwood showed his class in our ECB cup match against Surrey premiership side Reigate Priory, where he picked up his first Nomads 5fer. Mr Consistency - Nav Patel was again out there in great form, taking 4-40 and 3-48 across both fixtures.

Then there was the allure of Cobo’s prize for the first hundred, which brought out some great knocks with the bat - Luke Schildkamp batted the entire innings for 115* red. Whilst Sameer Hameed who’s recently signed for us, enjoyed opening up and getting stuck into the Balcombe bowlers. Hitting 115 from just 60 balls.

However...our spot light player this time around goes to Matthew Miller! Explosive with the bat and fiery with the ball, our 2nd XI overseas scored 116 and took 3 wickets in just 11 balls, to secure victory against Pagham. He’s not around all year, so be sure to pop down and see him in action.

TODAY | T20 Cup 1st XI
Our First XI head over to Burgess Hill CC to play the victors of either Burgess Hill 1st XI or St Peters 1st XI, who are playing the preliminary round in the morning. We start at 15:00 and it would be great to have club members there, to show support.

🏏 TEAM OF THE WEEK | So many players of notoriety this week that it was almost impossible to pick a spot light player.

We had Waleed and Adam hitting the wining boundary runs, to the elation and whooping delight of Nomad supporters. Then the experienced Kash, opened his account with a 5fer, followed by the explosive hitting of Matthew's 50* red. There was a wonderfully considered 78 from Bongo, who also took some needed wickets with the ball. Finally we have Sam, who on adult cricket debut scored 51. Wow, what a start!

Congratulations all. However...the spot light player falls to 1st team captain Nav Patel. Immediately setting the tone against Horsham, their heads were sent into a spin and a convincing victory was the result. Sunday saw them start their 'Road To Lords' with a nail biting victory against Minster CC. C'mon Nomads ❤️👏
