Wherever you are in the country, please keep reporting incidents of hare coursing and suspicious activity, including abandoned or burnt out vehicles on farmland, to police.

Don't rely on others to report it. Reports help provide data to justify additional resources in certain areas.

Police responded to reports of hare coursing in the county yesterday, with incidents taking place in the Upham, Lovedean and Clanfield areas.

Officers also deployed to a field in the Stratfield Saye area in the early hours of this morning where a 4x4 vehicle had been dumped and set on fire.

Separately in the east of the county, a member of the public located an abandoned lurcher which was in poor condition – the animal will receive professional care before efforts are made to rehome the dog.

No arrests were made on these occasions, however we will continue to follow up enquiries and develop the intelligence picture around any people or vehicles involved in this offending.

If game shooting is part of your job, lifestyle, community or countryside, please take a few minutes to make your voice heard.

The current call for evidence is an opportunity to explain what game shooting actually means to you in your own words.

It could be:
🐕 Working your dog
🌿 Managing land and supporting wildlife
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family, friends and community
💼 Your job or business
🥩 Wild game and food
🍻 Money spent in local pubs and businesses
🚜 Countryside work and wildlife monitoring
🏡 The wider impact on your local area

Keep it personal. Keep it factual. Numbers and examples are particularly useful. How much land do you manage? How much do you spend locally? What wildlife do you record? What would you lose if shooting disappeared?

Don't assume someone else will speak up. If this matters to you, tell them why.
