Hellesveor recorded their second loss this season as they were defeated by Mawnan.

With the Gurnards winning the toss and electing to bat, there were mixed opinions the camp on whether that was the right decision.

The usual duo of Chris Hampton and Aaron Rowe opened up with the pair making a solid start. After a couple of big shots from Rowe, he advanced down the track to the bowler and saw his wicket go.

Liam Bray departed soon after and then Will Rowe both scoring 0. Hellesveor were 23-3. Ian Laity then came in but it was Hampton who departed on 46-4.

The return of Joe Pascoe saw him steady the ship and finished unbeaten on 49.

Jack Rae chipped in with 21, Tom Jacobson 16, Jason Shaw 15, Mal Rae 2* and Mark Stevens 0 saw the Gurnards end on 159, missing out on that extra batting point.

Coming out to field, Helllesveor couldn’t get off to a better start. Aaron Rowe struck first with only 2 runs on the board and it got better when Jason got two wickets in two balls and Mawnan were 2-3.

That’s where it ended as chances came and went. Mawnan skipper unbeaten on 91 and Turner went for 65 until finally going after hitting one really high off Laitys bowling and finding Jacobson underneath it.

Mawnan passed it 4 down so Hellesveor lose.

Following their 8 wicket victory against Barripper last week, Hellesveor look to carry on their winning ways against our good friends Mount Hawke.

Two good games against them last year and a damn good teas so will be nice to go up there again Saturday.

All at Hellesveor Cricket Club are deeply saddened by the passing of Dave Chard, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

Our thoughts are especially with Stephanie and their children, along with John, Andrew, and all of Dave’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Although never gracing the Hellesveor turf with us, Dave was a valued member of our previous club, and a true friend to so many of our current members. Andrew, his brother, a current teammate and playing member. We will forever cherish the countless memories made alongside him on and off the cricket field over the years. His presence, warmth, humour, and love for the game will never be forgotten.

He will be greatly missed by everyone at the club.

Rest in peace, Dave.

On Thursday, with the help and kind assistance from wrsandow and support from the cornwallcricketboard, we have had the much needed renovation done to our square. W R Sandow have done a fantastic job, taking off a significant amount from the top. Levelling, scarifying and seeding. Just the loam and fertiliser to do over the next week or two.. What a difference!
Once again, massive thanks in particular for the continued support from Robert Jobson and Simon Johnson of the Cornwall Association of Cricket Groundskeepers. Chris Gesto from BHGS - Hayle. Alongside all the work done last week from wrsandow.
