Fixtures Confirmed | 2026/27 Championship

We’re delighted to reveal the 2026/27 WFA Championship fixtures for our WBA Baggies. 💪

A new season brings fresh opportunities, and the squad are excited to get back on court and begin another competitive campaign.

After four seasons leading our WBA Baggies, we'd like to say a huge thank you to Dave Lewis, who departs the club after an incredible coaching journey with our Powerchair Football pathway that began back in 2018.

Since joining the Baggies as Head Coach in 2022, Dave has played a key role in the continued development of the team. During his time in charge, the Baggies twice achieved fifth-place finishes in the WFA National Championship, while also lifting the West Midlands Regional League title on two occasions.

Beyond the results, Dave's impact has been felt across our entire programme. He has led countless coaching sessions, delivered our Powerchair Football Camps, coached on our former QAC College Programme and overseen the development of our WBA Stripes, helping to create opportunities for players at every stage of the pathway.

Dave has been instrumental in the progression of many of our younger players, encouraging an exciting, attacking style of football that has produced some outstanding performances and plenty of memorable goals along the way. Last season's fantastic run to the third round of the WFA Cup, including an impressive away victory over Norwich, was another highlight of his time with the club.

More than anything, Dave's commitment, dedication and genuine passion for Powerchair Football have shone through in everything he has done. His enthusiasm for coaching and helping players develop has made a lasting impact on our programme, and we're incredibly grateful for everything he has contributed over the past eight years.

Player-Coach Announcement 🙌🏻

We are delighted to announce that Jonathon Davis will be joining our WBA Baggies for the new season as Player-Coach.

Known to many simply as Jono, he has been an integral part of our WBA Throstles for a number of years and, during that time, has developed a real passion for coaching.

Alongside his coaching, Jono brings a wealth of playing experience, having previously competed in the Championship before establishing himself as a Premiership player over a number of seasons.

Having experienced the step up through our pathway himself, he has a great understanding of the journey our players are on and what it takes to develop and progress to the next level.

Over recent seasons, Jono has already made a fantastic impact working with players across our pathway, showing genuine enthusiasm for helping others improve while continuing to lead by example as a player. His positive attitude, approachable nature and commitment to developing those around him have made him a natural fit for this role.

We believe this is a really exciting appointment for the Baggies. It provides valuable continuity within our pathway while also bringing fresh ideas, plenty of enthusiasm, and invaluable playing and coaching experience to the group.

We're sure you'll join us in congratulating Jono and making him feel very welcome in his new role.

Following a strong finish to the season with the team winning 3 out of the 4 matches during the final weekend, the good vibes keep on coming!

Congratulations to Sam Swingler who has been voted Unsung Hero of the Weekend for his outstanding performances 💪🏻.

Meanwhile, Jack Gauder has been voted Standout Player of the Weekend and also bagged himself a place in the team of the weekend scoring an impressive seven goals ⚽️

Our final congratulations go to our coaches Dave Lewis and Matt Gilbert who were named as coaches of the weekend following the teams strong end to the season and 5th placed finish.

Our 2025/26 campaign comes to a close following a final day of mixed results.

A hard-fought encounter against Teesside Steel saw us narrowly fall to a 1-0 defeat to start the day.

The response was outstanding in our final fixture, as the team produced an exciting and clinical attacking display to defeat Norwich City 5-0. 💪

A Jack Gauder double, alongside goals from Noah Stevenson-Lea and Noah Harvey, plus a forced own goal, wrapped up an impressive performance to end the season on a high.

A strong finish and plenty to build on, onwards and upwards.

Goals galore for our Baggies as we delivered a strong response across Saturday’s fixtures. 💪

The day started with a tough test against Manchester City, where we went behind. The response was outstanding, with Jack Gauder firing a superb hat-trick to turn the game around and secure a 3–1 victory. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

That momentum carried into the second fixture, with a dominant and clinical 4–0 win over Altrincham. Gauder added another brace, taking his season tally to 11 goals, while an own goal and a rare strike from Amy Sherman, her first of the season, completed the scoring.

We’re back in action this morning as we take on Teesside Steel, before finishing the season against Norwich City.

Wow, what a showing from the team. 💪

A disciplined performance saw us earn a 0–0 draw against league leaders Nottinghamshire, followed by a dominant 2–0 victory over Leeds Dynamos to round off a brilliant day.

Goals came from Noah Stevenson-Lea, while a powerful effort from Lewis Marshall forced an own goal to seal a well-deserved three points. ⚽️

A mixed day for our Baggies, but plenty of fight and character shown throughout. 💪

The team battled back from 2–0 down against Hull, with a well-worked set play finished by Lewis Marshall, but despite the push, we fell to a 2–1 defeat.

We responded brilliantly in the second fixture, earning a well-deserved 2–2 draw against in-form Manchester United, with Jack Gauder grabbing both goals. ⚽️⚽️

Attention now turns to Day Two, with two more big tests ahead.
