💛⚽️ Sandown & Lake U12 Spitfires On Tour! ⚽️🖤

Today we travelled over to Southampton to take part in the One Nationals Tournament.

The results didn’t quite go our way, with some very strong mainland opposition and a team withdrawing at the last minute, but the girls showed incredible character throughout the day.

Their positivity, determination and team spirit never wavered. No matter the score, they kept going until the final whistle, supported each other every step of the way, and most importantly came away smiling.

A great day of football, learning and making memories together. We couldn’t be prouder of this group of girls! 💛🖤⚽️👏

🧤 Special recognition goes to Chloe, who was selected by One Nationals as a standout player. Chloe pulled off some absolutely incredible saves throughout the day.

⭐ Our Supporters’ Player was awarded to Gabby, who showed incredible commitment and quality in every game. No matter the challenge, she held her head high and gave her all from start to finish.

💙 Our Manager’s Player was awarded to Rosie. Her positivity was second to none all day long. Rosie constantly encouraged her teammates, praised others, and made sure everyone’s heads stayed high regardless of the score. A fantastic role model for the team, alongside some brilliant defensive performances on the pitch.

Our U12 Spitfires took part in the Wight Eagles Tournament on another very hot weekend, and the girls gave everything from start to finish.

We started strongly in our opening group game against a very resolute Ventnor side, claiming a 1-0 victory thanks to an outstanding strike from Bea. Receiving the ball on the edge of the box, she unleashed a fantastic effort that nestled into the top corner.

Our second game proved much tougher, coming straight after the first and against a strong mainland side in Binfield Red. Despite battling hard, we were beaten 3-0.

Progressing into the knockout stages, we faced the hosts, Wight Eagles. We started slowly and fell behind early. Up until the water break, the scoreline could easily have been much greater if it wasn’t for Chloe, who produced save after save to keep us in the game. The final 10 minutes saw a completely different performance from the girls. We put Wight Eagles under sustained pressure, forced a couple of excellent saves from their goalkeeper and spent much of the half on the front foot. A few quick counter-attacks ultimately saw us lose 3-0, but the scoreline certainly didn’t reflect how competitive the game was.

The 3rd-place play-off saw us take on Binfield Blue. A combination of the heat, tired legs and perhaps the disappointment of the previous result contributed to a 2-0 defeat.

Overall, it was another valuable day of football for the girls. Every game helps them grow both as a team and as individuals. It wasn’t our best day performance-wise, but everyone is entitled to an off day, and hopefully it puts a bit more fire in the belly ahead of the One National Tournament that we travel to next Saturday.

Without a doubt, Chloe. Once again, she showed just how valuable she is to this team. Her performances, attitude and the confidence she gives to those around her are second to none. Well done, Chloe! 💛🖤

Bea takes the captain’s award this week. Her effort and work rate are incredible and at times it’s like having an extra player on the pitch. Always positive, always encouraging her teammates and never afraid to put in the hard yards. Well done, Bea! 💛🖤

U12 Hurricanes Match Report ⚽️

A huge thank you to all the girls for their fantastic effort. Playing against strong teams in the hot weather was always going to be challenging, but they coped brilliantly and never stopped giving their all.

Although the results didn’t go our way, there were so many positive moments to take from the day. Lilly and Kaya created some great attacking opportunities with their runs forward and showed some excellent dribbling. Isobelle put in a strong performance with some good touches, passes and well-timed tackles. Miley worked tirelessly across the pitch, covering a variety of positions, while Lacey battled hard in the middle and competed for every ball.

Nancy, Esmae and Eva never gave up, continuing to work hard and battle against strong opposition throughout the tournament. In goal, Emmie made some fantastic saves, while Emily and Chloe both stepped up when needed. Despite suffering with some painful blisters, they showed great determination, performing well in goal and continuing to run their socks off when playing outfield.

⭐ My Star of the Week goes to Miley. She is such a hard worker and a hugely important player for the team. Her effort, attitude and commitment were outstanding today.

Thank you to everyone for your support throughout the day, and once again, a massive well done to all the girls for their incredible effort and determination.

U14’s Match Report At The Wight Eagles Tournament! ⚽️
Within the first game v Newport, our girls held their positions well, there were some great passes made upfront by Summer, Liv and Ivy and a great attempt at goal by LaylaAnne. This was followed by a fab free kick from Layla-Mai with an unfortunate miss from Summer and Millie making several fearless saves.
Our navigation of the ball displayed a confident team, however with full time at a 1-0 loss to us, the girls emphasis was to build a stronger defence for the 2nd game.
We began the 2nd match well, with Darcey, Becky, and Poppy continuing to encourage the girls to push up as they continued to deflect the ball at every opportunity!
Amelie courageously stood first in goal and then LaylaAnne, but Wight Eagles purple maintained their positioning and consistency, which unfortunately gave them a 3-0 victory.
Throughout our final match v Wight Eagles black, Betsy, Jaela, Jess, Skyla and Liv
worked hard to apply pressure and fight for 5th position within the tournament. With regret our Wildhearts saw a 2 goal loss, which put us in 6th place.
As discussed upon arrival this morning, this was the first time the Wildhearts had played 11aside, on a full size pitch with full size goals! Today marked another milestone and achievement within the challenges faced, we are very proud of their efforts and determination.
Super star of the week was awarded to Liv for making some great runs and listening to advice throughout.
Summer’s overall performance and positivity earnt her captains position for this week’s training.

Yesterday, we arrived determined and united to the tournament for our first game v Newport. Summer quickly secured a first goal, shortly followed by another, but unfortunately disallowed.
Betsy soon after escorted with 3 missed attempts and a great save from Millie.
Throughout the game Jess, Darcey and Layla-Mai remained strong in defence. Although the game displayed an even possession from both teams, our girls were over the moon with a 1-0 win!
Next we faced tough opposition in our second match v Wight Eagles, and although we applied pressure from the onset, a split second mis-judgement left us with a 1-0 loss.
With a mighty defence of 4 in the the third match v Ventnor we saw more unlucky strikes made by Liv and Summer assisted by LaylaAnne and Jaela. As the tension rose, 2 Wildheart players recieved an injury posing it difficult for them to continue. Final score unfortunately again was 1-0.
Our fierce U12 Spitfires, then beat us with a cracking goal!
During the remainder of the afternoon, we played several matches back to back in the heat. With initially only 1 sub and then none once Millie was unable to play on in goal, the girls worked tirelessly to perform great quality football, they supported one another by changing some positioning and Layla-Mai stepped up to the role in goal.
With Ivy and Liv making fantastic clearance, Betsy won our next game v Ventnor with a bottom corner goal!
Despite a loss in the last scheduled game against Newport, we had made 3rd position, which enabled us to take on Ventnor, then Newport in the Semi final and plate phase.
Our players continuously pressed their components until the final whistle and with pride, our captain Liv and co-captain Ivy lead our team to fourth position!
It was a fun, well organised event hosted by Ventnor and although a long day and very warm, we are extremely proud for all girls involved to have received 4th place!
With each match they attend, they are developing within their position, whilst learning others. This skill was recognised and fed back to us from Ventnor teams we had played a year ago!
A huge thank you also to Liv’s mum for standing as respect steward and to Ivy’s dad for running the line in all our games at such short notice!
Also congratulations to Sandown & Lake U10 & U12 for their fabulous efforts and participation over the course of the weekend!
We felt all girls were deserving of super star this week, but chose Layla-Mai for playing out of her usual position for all games and marking either in defence or goal, this was a big ask and she rose to to the challenge!
Darcey was awarded captain for next week’s tournament due to her consistency and guidance in defence!
And finally, well done Millie for your agility in goal, continuous advice and support for teammates, we are all relieved you are feeling better!

A huge well done to the U12s girls this afternoon at the Ventnor Tournament, competing against mixed age groups in scorching conditions and after a very long afternoon of football. ⚽️☀️

The results may not have gone our way, but the effort, commitment and determination shown throughout every game was outstanding once again. The girls never gave up, worked hard for each other and should all be incredibly proud of themselves for finishing 3rd in the Plate competition 👏💛🖤

Our Captain’s Award goes to our newest Spitfire, Olivia! 🌟
Stepping into a brand new team and making an instant impact, Olivia scored all of our goals today — including a coolly taken penalty and a real poacher’s finish. She also scored a fantastic volley that was unfortunately ruled out by a very questionable offside flag! 😂⚽️
You should be so proud of yourself, Olivia 💛🖤

Star of the Tournament goes to Daisy! ⭐️
Today’s performances were without doubt her best yet. Her tireless running, fearless tackling and positive attitude were phenomenal all afternoon against opposition often twice her size. Daisy never stopped working and received so many compliments from opposition players and supporters alike — something she should be incredibly proud of 💛🖤👏

Training today for the U12s involved work around the offside rule and how it affects the game, as it’s a new concept for many involved and comes into place for the upcoming tournaments and fixtures.

Despite the heat, 18 girls turned up and all put in their best efforts 👏☀️⚽️

💛🖤 Spitfires Player of the Day goes to Lexie, who already understood the offside rule so opted to go in goal for the session and really helped everyone else out, whether on her own team or the opposition. She pulled off some brilliant saves and her distribution was on point 👏🥅

💛🖤 Spitfires Co-Captains go to Gabby and Pru! Both demonstrated fantastic leadership through encouragement as the heat and new concept frazzled a few brains 🧠☀️ Their relentless work rate, great link-up play and finishing were on full display throughout the session 👏⚽️

🖤💛 Hurricanes Player of the Day was Kimmy! An absolute standout in defence during the game at the end of the session, stopping so many promising attacks 👏🛡️

Our Spitfires head out to Ventnor tomorrow afternoon for their tournament, which they are very much looking forward to. Best of luck, Spitfires

The Sandown and Lake U8 girls played brilliantly in the Ventnor tournament today! ⚽️💙

They showed some fantastic teamwork and passing throughout the games, but most importantly they showed amazing team spirit off the pitch too. Well done girls 👏
