There’s always a lot of interesting stuff going on behind the scenes at PSW HQ! 😀
Last week was especially exciting though, as I was privileged enough to be involved in the research of Dr Will Young, who specialises in Parkinson’s Disease at the University of Exeter.

As part of his fascinating ongoing research into Freezing of Gait (based on the lived experience of people with Parknison’s), he brought together a group of experts to film a series of training videos for those living with PD.
The group included:
🔹 Several people living with PD, who very generously shared their experiences on F.O.G. and many of whom have also been heavily involved in the other aspects this research.
🔹 Dr Sophia Hulbert, who gave an in-depth introduction to weight shifting, offering creative ways to learn, ways to check how you are getting on, plus a fun and easy-to-follow dance session cleverly incorporating all of those things

🔹 Jagdeep Singh Aujla (Parkinson's Advocate, Exercise Prescriber, Public Speaker & Founder of Dopamine Warriors), who expertly demonstrated how weight-shifting using boxing movements can help someone move out of a freeze
🔹 Me, in interview with Dr Will Young to introduce the work I do with individualised sensory input (The Neuro Studio/Pilates for Neurological Conditions), plus demonstrating with one of my clients, then also teaching exercises to help with walking and turning, plus showing strategies for turning over in bed and getting out of a freeze
⭐ During the two days of filming at the beautiful The Blackdown Healthy Living & Activity Centre (www.bhlac.org.uk), we were all in the expert hands of Kevin Redpath from Somerset Film at The Engine Room (www.somersetfilm.com) and Hannah Earl from Hannah Earl Film (www.hannahearl.com).
⭐ All the Training Videos and Dr Will Young’s Research Paper will be released later this year.
