☀️🏐 Sunshine Sistas at the Northampton Netball Tournament 🏐☀️

A fantastic day of netball in the sunshine!

This was our first tournament as Sunshine Sistas and a great opportunity to show off our new dresses. 💜🧡

Most importantly, it gave us the chance to play together, strengthen our teamwork, gain valuable match experience and continue developing as a squad.

We're incredibly proud of everyone who took part and represented the club so well.

A special thank you to those who weren't playing on the day but came along to support the team. Your help with managing substitutions, keeping track of team changes and offering tactical advice was greatly appreciated. 💛

Here's to many more tournaments to come! ☀️🏐

**Sunshine Sistas – still growing, still giving 💛🏐**

What started as a simple idea — to create a space for women to come back to netball, rebuild confidence, and feel part of something — continues to grow into something really special.

Sunshine Sistas was inspired by a desire to support women’s health and wellbeing, particularly in communities where conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes and stroke are more prevalent. Movement, connection and community matter — and that’s what we’re building here.

This group is for:
✨ Women who haven’t played since school
✨ Women who thought netball “wasn’t for them anymore”
✨ Women looking for fitness, friendship and support
✨ Women who just want to give it a go

And we’re proud to say — it’s working.

These photos celebrate our **Players of the Match from the last 9 games** 👏🏽
A reflection of effort, growth, teamwork and spirit across the squad.

We’ve **won 8 out of 9 games** and are currently **top of the table** — something we’re really proud of… but what matters more is *how* we’re doing it.

Along the way, we’ve said goodbye to a few players (with love 💛), and we continue to welcome new ladies — including those who have **never played before but are brave enough to try**.

We shared our journey - from that first nervous meeting in November 2024 to becoming League Champions in just 15 months!

Angela spoke about the inspiration for starting Sunshine Sistas, and Ima and Claudette shared their positive experiences of joining the squad - their stories about finding friendship, fitness, and confidence were truly inspiring! 💪🏾

Our squad members who attended received certificates and badges recognizing our championship season.
So proud of every single one! 🏆

Exciting Development: We connected with women interested in starting Walking Netball - expanding our Sunshine Sistas community to make netball accessible for everyone! 🎉

The "Give to Gain" theme really came to life - when women support each other, incredible things happen. We gave courage, commitment, and support to each other... and gained a championship, lifelong friendships, and a community that proves age is just a number! 💛

From a few women wondering "should we do this?" to a league champions - that's the power of women believing in each other! ✨

What a fantastic day of netball 💕

🌟 FINAL MATCH OF THE SEASON 🌟

Tonight didn't go our way, but we're proud to finish the season top of the league! 🏆🏐💛

What a journey it's been. But more than the wins, it's what we've built together that matters most.

What we celebrate most:

✨ Every player getting court time - because everyone deserves to play
✨ New players finding their confidence - watching someone score their first goal is worth more than any trophy
✨ Sisterhood - the way we support each other on and off the court
✨ Inclusivity - making space for women who thought sport wasn't for them
✨ Supporting women in non-playing roles - umpires, scorers, supporters, volunteers - you're all part of this family
✨ Physical & mental health - the transformation we see in each other
✨ Community - building friendships that extend beyond Wednesday nights

We're a squad of women - many over 50, many who'd never played netball before or for over 30 years, all breaking down barriers together.

**That's what we're really winning at.**

The scoreboard matters less than the fact that:
- Someone facing isolation found a community
- Someone doubting themselves discovered they CAN
- Someone new to netball made their first interception
- Someone dealing with life's challenges had an hour to just play and smile

**Win or lose, as long as everyone plays, everyone grows, and everyone feels they belong - we're succeeding at what matters most.**

Thank you to every single player who's been part of this season. You make Sunshine Sistas what it is. ☀️

Here's to next season - more playing time for all, more growth, more support, more sisterhood! 💪🏾🏐

What a start to 2026! The Sistas are back and making things happen! 🏐💛

Finding a regular training venue continues to be challenging, but the search goes on! Tonight we held a shooting practice session at the **Wellingborough African Caribbean Association (WACA)** centre.

Huge thanks to WACA for making space available, and massive appreciation to the volunteers who willingly turn out to open and close for our use - we couldn't do this without you! 🙏🏾💛
